This is by Burns, Love. They released a single, "Dear Claire", last month. The rest of the album dropped February 2nd. Won't be everyone's cup of tea but I hope somebody likes it.

There is enough great forgotten music already to last for several lifetimes.

Here are a couple of Hippie groups I've been listening to lately. Dope Lemon, Skin Shape, Angus and Julia Stone(which angus is Dope Lemon);
also revisiting Washed out- Paracosm is a great background, get some admin done listen. My buddy is reading a book called The 1000 Albums You Must Listen To Before You Die. He spotify links me the albums and sends out the origins of the groups and their influences on their sound and previous bands they played with. Pretty interesting stuff. It references many of the albums I listened to in College: King Crimson, Dire Straits, Allman Brothers, New York Dolls, Velvet Underground, Bruce Springsteen, Neil Young, etc... But almost always the albums you never heard on radio- first albums or obscure ones that might not have broken through the glass ceiling yet. But it also includes lots international stuff I've never heard before that are amazing: two in particular Hawk Wind (album Space Ritual), and a group called Can (album Tago Mago) Both trippy psychedelic stuff. good to work out to.
More recently I've burned through complete works of the following: Fleet Foxes, Lord Huron, Ben Howard, Andrew Belle, City and Colour, Radio Head, Feist, Stereophonics, and lot of The Grateful Dead. There are two more to mention: Foals (what went Down album) and Khraungbin-The bassist, Laura Lee is a freaking Neutron Star for the eyes.
if you want to see some cool performances Youtube Later with Jools Holland- some all time great performances there and Tiny Desk Concerts- good stuff. enjoy

Hopefully this doesn't hijack the thread too much, but while we're at it...

Musical artists with ties to USC:

  • Darius Rucker (attended undergrad)
  • Hootie and the Blowfish (all members attended undergrad)
  • Amos Lee (undergrad)
  • Toro y Moi (undergrad)
  • Washed Out (grad)

Who else have we had of national significance?

Darius Rucker,Dierks Bently, Jon Pardy will be @ the Tryon International Equestrian Center August 25th. Three day event. I believe tickets are on sale now. They have some good concerts. Last year they had Miranda Lambert and Chase Rice. If you want to take your camper or Motorhome you might want to go ahead and reserve a spot.

I don't put a song on here unless the album is good, these guys put out some really good stuff!

Good band from Austin Texas. I don't have this album yet. I have been known to buy a whole vinyl album just for one song. Back in the day. Fortunately don't have to these days.

Here's another Texas band I like. This song came out 2014 or 2015 so I guess not new anymore. It's a husband and wife group believe it or not. The last half of the song is my favorite.

Get some hair on your nuts.

Hi Warrior! I've had hair on my nuts since I was 10 lol. I've certainly noticed my musical tastes have changed over the years. I no longer HAVE to hear a guitar being "shredded" or have my face "melted". But I've always been a fan of melody and like many different genres. I can't detect any melody in that particular piece. But PLENTY of energy! Do you like that? I mean it's cool if you do. I like what I like and so should everyone. It just seems that some kids "like" stuff because they think they're supposed to and young people particularly don't want to appear different to their friends. I've always had a love for music, just generally not what I hear on the radio. I also like your contribution better than "country" music but that's just me being me. I'm glad that you're following this thread. I started this thread because there was one on the old site that I enjoyed and was hoping this thread would be more active then it's been. I hope you continue to follow it and continue to contribute your favorite music here as well. You're also a Packers fan if I remember correctly?

I just love music. Primarily rock/metal (classic and modern) but my tastes veer towards pop, hip hop, dance, etc. at times. Even like a little bit of country...mostly older stuff.

The video I posted is deathcore which is definitely an acquired taste and not for everyone. But the brutality and talent is undeniable...the drummer is a beast.

And yes...I'm a Packers fan. You like the Cowboys, right?

A nice rocker off Sarah Shook and the Disarmer's new one!

Straight up country, not that Bro ****!

and a nice Lydia Loveless sound, but maybe better!

These guys have played New Brooklyn twice the last couple of years they are from NC, damn good band to see in there, her guitarist is killer along with the pedal steel!
