Headed to New Orleans this week. Need suggestions on things to do and places to eat. No kids on this trip but don't want to spend a fortune on food either.

BBQ shrimp is great. Attracks more locals than tourist. One of the few places that you will see local stand in line for.

The French Quarter Market. They have a sampler plate of red beans, gumbo, and etouffee that's pretty damn good.

Also, Lafiette's Blacksmith Shop (on Burbon, but way down towards the end. Past the gay bars) is awesome. They say it's the oldest bar in America, but who knows. It's got a rustic European Tavern feel on the inside.

Spend half a day in By Water. Walking is not bad in NOLA if you can stop and rest every so often. Walk to Lost Love Lounge for a few bloody mary's and then walk to The Joint or JD's for lunch about 1PM or so. Then walk to Markey's and hang out for a few hours. After a few there walk to Bacchanal and have a few drinks outdoors and then dinner. They might even feel like going by Vaughn's. Pretty good plan.
