Nice pickup for Seton Hall -- 4-star C Najai Hines -- will likely shred Ogbole to pieces in the post

Ogbole and Fall are going to have to be leaps and bounds better in the post if Rutgers is to have any chance this season. The 5 spot is likely to be the weakest position on this roster.

We should have grabbed him.
According to Richie, he’s got limited offensive skills and may not be able to defend anyone away from the basket. Feels this guy is a bit overrated since not many schools got involved in his recruitment.

Najai Hines is a freshman.

Funny how some folks think he'll run circles around a Senior (Ogbole) and a Junior (Fall), both of whom have experience practicing and playing against P4 players.

Yet, the same people think most Rutgers incoming freshmen will be complete non-factors.

Proving that the grass is always greener on the other side of fence I guess.

The AD search is finally over??? 😂
Yes it is and now RU MBB will be better because of it and will pull even farther ahead of that second class U located in SO NJ when it comes to being respected in the college basketball world..
Remember Seton Hall was picked 10th in the 2024-25 Big East preseason poll but finished with a 7-25 record (2-18 in conference play). Finishing dead last in conference play

Seems like it would have been worth taking a flyer on development center. Probably would not cost much and maybe cost less to retain if he panned out. Cannot be worse than Ogbole, or can he? Unless there was severe academic issues, I cannot see downside on using one of 15 scholarships on this kid.

Hines was under recruited for basketball because he was expected to play football and was highly recruited as a tight end. He blew up as a senior and felt he has a better path playing basketball. Reclassified to 2025 because he had such a good season. His Peach Jam numbers just underscored that. He’s 6’10 240 and agile.

BUT…
- He’s a freshman.
- His game is around the basket…no offense beyond ten feet, but he plays with both hands.
- He will rebound but freshman bigs are typically foul machines and are out of position.
- He won’t outplay your 5’s this year but if SHU can keep him he should make another big jump as a sophomore.

He’s the second highest recruit since Whitehead. There are better pieces on this team but we are a last place team until I see how they meld.

We'll see if RU MBB will be better in the future due to the new AD hire, not holding my breath with Pikiell as the coach. The program has been on a steady decline and for the 100th time I'll say it that this past season was absolute catastrophe. Permanent stain on the program. Moving forward, let's see what he can do this year with a very weak roster and low-level players at the 5-spot. Hoping the frontcourt can stop their opponents from continuous layup lines to the basket. Everyone says this year's team is emphasizing defense but where the hell are the points going to come from?

RU will be better, in my opinion, because the new AD will not give Pikiell any slack if he doesn't produce.
He might get until the 2026 -27 season to make the dance, but if he doesn't have a winning 2025-27 season he probably won't be given that chance
