Was there with my wife and son. Our seats were in a corner of the stadium, Sec. 207A, on the end of the ice where the stage was that The Jonas brothers played on . We were in the 2nd level. We all agreed that the viewing from these seats was better than expected. The tickets cost about $120 a piece. Worth the price. The lots opened at 2pm. We were on line to get into the lots about 20 minutes before hand. The fan fest started at 2:30. We were online about 10 minutes early for that also. Stayed at the fanfest for about 2 hours and went back to the car to tailgate. I would say about 50,000 Devil fans and 20,000 Philly fans. A GREAT showing by Devil fans. After the game as we left the stadium, we walked past a souvenir stand, ALL the Devils stuff was sold out, some Flyer stuff was still there. Hope that they do it again! It bought back A LOT of great memories of games at the Meadowlands and tailgating before the games.
I’m wearing a Devils hoodie today down here, about to meet some friends at a local bar. I’ll let you guys know if I get any reactions

Atmosphere at the game was electric last night. Tailgate scene was awesome. Miss tailgating for hockey games. We got there at 1:45 and waited for gates to open at 2pm. Party bus was clutch so that people could go inside and warm up . We had group of 40 sitting in club seats in 237 . Tix were $325 but worth it bc of access to the club in between periods and we were on the devils shoot twice blue line . This event was 100 times better then the outdoor game at yankee stadium 10 years ago .

You mean playing a sport in a venue where the playing surface (while exaggerated of course) mimics what is played there already, so the sight lines are similar, is better than one that isn’t?

How about that. Who knew.🤷‍♂️

That’s part of it but Fan fest and the ability to have a good tailgate brings it to another level

Took away 1,500-2,000 ????
For Jonas brothers stage/light show last night
On TV last night they said some of it had to do with the renovations needed for the World Cup…that’s happening in TWO years.

(insert eye roll emoji guy here) or (skeptical hippo .gif) here.

asked a bartender to put on the Rutgers game, he says, you’re definitely from Jersey, looking at my Devils sweatshirt.

Very important week for NJD.
4 games in 6 days this week.

Timo is having a pedestrian season. So is Mercer though. Relative to what both did last year. We also miss Hamilton right now.

Devils are in the second tier of scoring teams in the NHL (1st tier is Dal, Col and Van over 200 and Tor, Det and TB in the 190s). With Hamilton and some more production from Timo and Mercer we'd be up there in that tier. Jack also hasn't looked himself since coming back from the last injury.

But regardless of these few issues, we're still scoring a lot. Defensively we lost a lot of experience in losing Severson and Graves and having Hamilton injured. We've got two rookies playing. I think with some experience we'll clean up the chances we're giving the other team and that will impact the +/-.

Biggest and really on thing we can do right now is fix goaltending which has been worst in the league. Two options are Markstrom and Saros. Markstrom is 34 and has a down season last year. He can turn into a Vanecek or Schneider at any time so I don't see value in trading for him. Would rather roll with Daws than do that. Saros would be a great pickup. Having a down year this year but is only 28 and has had some stellar numbers the last few years. A bit short for a goaltender which makes his numbers all the more impressive.

Before people reply with +/- being an imperfect statistic, Time’s -22 ranks 863rd in the league this year. There’s only 12 players with a worse +/- and all but two of them play for CHI, SJ, and ANA

Plus minus is an imperfect stat, but it is also not completely irrelevant. When you're meant to put numbers on the board, a high minus might (not always) indicate that some detail in your game has to get better. I do think this season is an outlier for Meier though.

He has 22 points and is a -22 which means he's been on the ice for 44 goals against. That's 23.7% of the goals against. And he's even missed 13 games. That's pretty bad.

I love that stat (+/-) and think it’s telling. Yup, Timo’s been bad..though lately been playing better.

Frustrating, management needed to act months ago. Ruff should have pulled Daws no later than 3-1. Hey old dude your rookie goalie had major neck surgery last year, give him a break.

Well we are bigger but still struggle against huge teams, so much for speed.

Fitz is talking to Calgary and Nashville for Markstrom or Saros respectfully. The idiot dragged his heels and watched as we blew the easy part of our schedule.

Hope I'm wrong, but probably the only thing that will be accomplished this year is Fitz trading a lottery pick.

would be a huge mistake..like you said, should have acted earlier.

sell, sell, sell..get picks and create a package with picks in the offseason for a goalie...no issue trading the lottery pick....teams window is opening and need NHL ready players instead of projects.

So trade assets for picks so they can trade the picks for a goalie?

Yes, probably the best way to get a good goalie. No interest in a 35 year old that will be available now.

Saros is intriguing but again, I'd wait til the offseason. Absolutely no rush cause I dont think Devils are going anywhere...even if they do sneak into a playoff spot.

Hope you guys listened.

This team is bad enough , take Marino out and it’s a joke on defense.

Actually a joke all around.

Throw in the towel already and rebuild.
Softest team in league

Certainly not a "joke"..team is fighting for a playoff spot. Joke teams aren't in the playoff race in February.

That being said, again, I doubt they go anywhere even if they sneak in..so I do agree with you, time to retool..

Has anyone ever seen Timo take a slap shot ?
Can he actually lift the puck or is everyone of his shots 6 inches or lower?

Another night where he was a NON-FACTOR!

And this Nosek guy should be waived.

Timo is hurt. Now because of the newer lightweight sticks that break real easy, and the rules designed to make the game faster, the slapshot is less likely than fighting, you are much more likely to see a fight than a slapshot sadly.

I don't put the blame on the players, for as I warned months ago, management had to be proactive with good trades and/or getting new leadership to kick this team in gear. This lost season is on the suits. Ruff showed again how he has lost his fastball, by playing Daws for the fifth straight time. Daws is a rookie who had major hip surgery last year. From ownership, to Fitzgerald, to Ruff we have a lost year!

Sentimental fanboys do NOT win!

The Devil’s are very difficult to figure out.
I’m not sure what context you’re using when you refer to them as soft.
They obviously lack in areas and aren’t consistent, but toughness isn’t one of them imo.

Recalling Poulter tells the fanbase that they will not try to upgrade this weak roster
Lol wtf are they even doing at this point? Sending Schmid down to "see game action" for Poulter? So they're really going throw this kid at the red hot Rangers tomorrow night? As with everything this year, Lindy made this a mess. Why not start Schmid last night and play Daws vs. the Rags? That's going to be some scene in front of 11K Ranger fans.

18-8-1 is probably what it'll take to get to the playoffs. Fitz should not mortgage future assets in hopes that they can rally for the privilege of getting steamrolled by BOS or NYR in the ECQF. The time to do it was 6 weeks ago.
