The opening night forwards should be:

Tofolli, J Hughes, Bratt
Meier, Hischier, Holtz
Palat, Haula, Mercer
McLeod, Bastian, Lazar

Scratches: Nosek, N Foote (rotate with Lazar)

Then on D:

L Hughes, Dougie, Jonas, Marino, Bahl and Smith
Mille scratched

McLeod is the center of the 4th line. Not Nate.
You’re just going to give away Thompson for nothing?

Miller instead of Smith of course too.

Haven’t been impressed at all with miller this preseason.

Yes, would have to waive Thompson and hole he clears. The downside of having extreme organizational depth

He’s not going to clear

He’s been much better than Nosek
Would be a poor decision to waive TT just to keep this bum Nosek

Miller is just WAY better than Smith too.

You’re not understanding why they’re keeping Nosek when I’ve explained a bunch.

Disagree about the defensemen..but either way both are either the 6th or 7th dean and again I’d expect rotation to keep them fresh

Keeping a bad player around makes no sense no matter the circumstance

Especially if we lose a decent asset with no return

McLeod centers that 4th line, Bastian on RW. I tend to think Nosek starts the season in the lineup.

I think Thompson should clear. His career doesn't suggest he is on teams radar. Last year was very uninspiring. He's been good this preseason though.

I think you’re in a very slim minority if you think Nosek is a “bad player”…he’s your typical 4th liner who will add some veteran presence, has a lot of playoff experience as well.

He managed 66 games for a historically good Bruins team last year.

He is certainly not an exciting player, but he clearly has some usefulness if he carved out a role in the NHL for a long as he has. This team doesn't need more scoring, but a guy that can lock down an opponent, win faceoffs, and keep the puck out of your own net is useful. Fitz hasn't made too many blunders as GM and if he thinks Nosek is a useful piece to have, I won't argue with him.

Smith's biggest asset is all the stuff off the ice, a great locker room guy. Over ripen Nemec, when he gets called up, you want him to stick. Being in an out of the lineup stunts growth. The Devils expect to WIN, one teenaged defenseman is enough.
