After the Devils eliminate the Canes in 6 or 7 we should all watch Animal House for laughs.

BTW I'm putting everyone who didn't get the movie reference on double secret probation LOL.

I was at game !

Wow! Whatta game !

Crowd was electric and Devils played great!

Extra kudos to Siegenthaler / Nemec and Markstrom!

If we only had the Hughes brothers in the lineup for the playoffs !

My son and I were also there. it was my son's 1st playoff game. At my age, I thought that I would be able to handle things like overtime better but as it went on I was on the edge of my seat more often. Thank God they won. On to Sunday. Tonight we are going to the Patriots game. THAT will be JUST a little more relaxing!

Dougie seems to be playing a bit more physical. He had a real good hit on a Cane in the open & was the victim of a lousy penalty call.

And people were complaining we spent a 2 on Doumalin. Guy played 36 mins and I don’t think I yelled at him for a bad play all game
Yeah 5 D playing 4+ periods.... I just hope they have something left for Sunday. Siegs looked rusty but to be expected hopefully he shakes it off.

That second goal was absolutely brutal . Noeson turnover and Marky played that terribly . Put us in a deep hole
I put it much more on Noesen.

Should Markstrom have gotten it? Maybe but it was still a dead eye corner pick off of a terrible turnover.

I turned the game off when the canes scored to make it 2-0. Turned it back on to check the score when it was in the 3rd. Missed both Devil goals. Knowing that they don't have a chance in hell to come back from a 2-0 deficit sucks!

I'm a glutton for punishment, so I watched every second. None of it was a surprise since I have seen this for ALL of 2025. Our owners have their perfect puppet. They don't actually care about winning, so they don't want to spend in season.

Look at the other series, you will see KHL players in games helping their NHL teams. You have a team like Minnesota, and you can see Zeev Buium, a first round pick right in there from the Frozen Four. You will not see any reinforcements in NJ because of bad owners. They didn't want to "waste" Gritsuyk year of rookie contract on the playoffs. So he has former KHL teammates playing while he starts next year. Our bottom 6 has sucked all year, but the same goes for LaChance from BU. No reinforcements because the owners don't want to spend money.

Which brings me to the poor trade day. Brian Doumalim has been a great warrior, but would we have had to give up a 2nd rounder and a prospect if our owners did not want to save money? The answer is clearly no. The Devils insisted on the Ducks paying half his remaining contract to save Harris and Blitzer money, no other reason.

This is all why Fitzgerald will make some good moves in the summer, but is slow at best in season. Our owners are watching every penny, not wanting to spend a penny more than they budgeted. This is why for the last 2 years Our Devils have not followed the trend of using the LTIR loophole. This money is not free, it is extra money paid by the owner. Sadly our corporate owners reject trying to win if it will cost them anything over budget. The sad facts!

There is no worse in-season NHL GM than Fitzgerald. For 2 consecutive years, this team has been screaming for help around the turn of the calendar year. And in 2 consecutive years, he let the team sputter along. This year he trades picks for 2 separate guys who he could have claimed on waivers earlier this season. I'm not discounting the injuries to 86 and all over the defense. Those are crippling and I had next to no expectation they'd win this series. However, I'm almost happy that the complete and total lack of scoring depth is what is ultimately killing them. Not the banged up defense and not the goaltending. There are no less than 6 forwards on this team that should be playing their final games for this team tomorrow night - but we all know better than to expect some won't be back next year.

19 wins in 48 games since Christmas. If the season was 85 games long, CBJ would have caught them for the 3rd Metro spot.

The Devils must come out 180 degrees better for us to see one of their patented 3 game winning streaks. Last game they played the first and third periods like they would rather be golfing. If this team wants to win there is a path.

Come on guys bleed all over them and drag them back to Newark.

I was at the game. Very odd the difference in energy from 1st period to 2nd. They really came out flat.
I don't think people take into account the 'rationing' of energy players have to do to survive the playoffs. Fans want everyone to play every shift at 100% all the time, but it just doesn't work like that. The Friday night game was an absolute must win, and as a result they laid it all out there, and then they lost a D so they were at 5 d, and then it went to overtime, and then it went to 2 overtimes, and then they had a shortish turnaround with the game early on Sunday (it matters), and quite frankly, there was nothing left in the tank. Now they have to hope that the energy can regenerate for tonight. If they can win at least they get an extra day off which will be key.

Pesce and Siegenthaler are game time decisions. WTF is going on with these injuries?
Yep, 4 of the 6 possible starters played most of the season in the AHL. Hamilton, maybe he is still hurt? He has played soft and has brought nothing to the PP.

Tough loss !

Markstrom was unreal !

Devils gave it all they had but they were just exhausted !

Devils need more scoring upfront and more offensive depth.

Need Hughes brothers to stay healthy !.

Cheap owners, a puppet GM, injuries, Marky doing his best Viteck for the first 2 periods, and the ( always consistent) refs killed our season.

Next time if you are going to snatch defeat from victory, do it in regulation!

Lots of dead wood to let go . Maybe a buy out or 2 . Nemec looked solid in the few playoff games he was able to play in . Still too many question marks

NO powerplay killed them in this series! I give the canes credit for winning, but if the Devils could have scored a few PP goals, this series would not be over.

0–16 and 1 SHG against
Putrid

Too many injuries , star player injury prone. 3 best players of which 2 are smallish and 1 Nico average size but has shown more toughness the last 2 years

McKay Holik Marshall Pandolfo Lemieux Madden Arnott Chambers ect ect

Bigger guys and/or grit guys who could actually score a goal

Two days ago, I was talking to my son about the "crash line" and told him that the Devils need a few guys like them to camp in front of the net. The 3 of them never where afraid to plant their *** there and mix it up. AHHHH, the good ole days.

All sports leagues should immediately disengage from betting site companies, the officiating is way too inconsistent! Last night toward the end of the first period Bettman's boys took over.

This team needs better conditioning. The Canes had life while our guys were sucking air.

Sadly they don't make players like McKay, Holik, and Peluso anymore. The closes now are Matthew and Brady T.

The betting ads are JUST a bit annoying now. Bet this, bet that. And Pete Rose was the bad guy.

Classic! I was lucky to have been to all of the playoff games that year including the final. I remember seeing Gretzky sitting with Bettman across the ice from my friend and me during the first game of the final. One of the best laughs that we ever had!
