I’d enjoy talking about football, but it’s miserable to think about nearly everyone hoping we get to 4 wins.
Thought for the day:

There has been discussion of combining all of Mississippi's universities to create a team that could compete and win big. Here's the brutal truth. Even that is not big enough. Just don't tell the people in Oxford that, they still cling to false hope and their small time pretentious pride as a way of life. The tallest midget feels great in his home town.

They were in the playoffs conversation late last year and are ranked again pre-season this year. I think if we were combined, it would be better than what they are experiencing now.

ahh yes, just good enough to be "in the mix" and ultimately lose against Texas, Georgia, Bama, Ohio State, Oregon, Notre Dame, Michigan, LSU, Penn State, and others. Combining the schools would move Ole Miss from #30 on the list to #20. But there is always a chance less talented two deeps could win 3-4 games in a row against teams better and deeper than them. I mean David did in fact beat Goliath once.

I’d take regularly being #20 with random up years all day long.

I dunno… on one hand, a Mississippi State/Ole Miss combo would be about like Arkansas without the billionaire alumni.

On the other hand, I think a Mississippi State/Ole Miss combo could at least compete for a playoff spot every year, especially if it goes to 16. Then whatever happens in the playoffs happens, but you’d start to get the reputation as a “perennial playoff team”, which gets you on some radars you wouldn’t normally be on. We’d have a better chance of keeping instate talent for sure.

I personally see a huge negative ROI on playoff teams that do not win it all. It is like saying a team gets a lot of cash and many more students to enroll, more donations to the university and more brand value. The only one that gets all of that in a big way is the national champion. Everyone else is burning money with reckless disregard.
