So, if I'm about to get a new phone from Cell South, what do I need? The phone that people seem to love is the Samsung Galaxy, but apparently cell south has a new phone coming out called the HTC Merge. What say ye? People that know what your talking about, tell me the difference. Which one do I need?<div>
</div><div>Another question for those in the know. Now that I Phone is operating on CDMA services, how long before Cell South gets it? Ever?</div>

There's not a release date set on the Merge from CS at this time. Also I wouldn't say "never" on CS getting the Iphone, but it probably won't be this year. The Galaxy is better than the Iphone anyway.

for a calendar year. After that, they thought you would have to negotiate with apple to get the iphone. CS obviously has no idea if or when they would get the iphone.

I think they will eventually get it, but I think it might be a year or two.

Was wondering if cell south is still doing the thing where you can upgrade the hero without paying the upgrade fee?

The two decent phones coming out in the near future are the HTC Merge and the Motorola X. Neither are as good as the Galaxy.<div>
</div><div>The next phone that CS will get that is better than the Galaxy will be the Samsung 4G which won't hit this area until 1Q next year and it will be hella expensive. All the new LTE phones are going to be freakin high at the start.</div><div>
</div><div>Get the Galaxy and don't look back. The price just dropped to $99 so your timing is pretty good.</div><div>
</div><div>I bet if you go to the store and ***** about how bad your Hero is they will let you upgrade free.</div>

I got the Galaxy as soon as it got out and had no idea what I was doing. After a friend told me to download launcher pro and showed me a few things I constantly show my gf how much cooler it is than her iphone. Galaxy is very customizable and def worth getting.

If you get a Galaxy, you can go to Verizon and get a case or other accessories for it. They're on clearance at Verizon since the Galaxy S Fascinate (which is the same phone) is being phased out. Got to make room for the Samsung Droid Charge 4G.

Best thing you could do, though, is switch to Verizon and get the iPhone4. Best device ever made.

had been giving problems lately, dropped all contacts, showing temperature was 9 degrees outside, wouldn't load new contacts. They did a "software upgrade" to it and she says its like night and day difference, much better than before. The old contacts even came back up after upgrade.

That's my only concern about it

i love it, but the battery is not really good. thats the only drawback i've found.

ive posted this before, but theres a way you can get more battery life out of your Galaxy.

8-1-10
leave it on the charger, turned on, for 8 hours. turn it off for an hour. turn it back on and let it charge for 10 more hours. keep it plugged in the whole time.

I am actually pretty pleased with the battery life on my galaxy.... i DO have to charge it every night but i have never had a phone that I didn't have to do that with. To get the most out of it, you will want to make sure you don't use apps that just suck the battery and don't have the GPS turned on when you arent using it, etc. Also, make sure you visit your task manager every now and then and make sure that unused apps have been closed. I have also seenwhere a complete reboot will wipe out other things that are running in the background that even my task managed didn't see. A few weeks ago, my battery was going dead by lunch with normal use..... had no idea what it was. Just randomly turned it off one day and back on and havent had a problem with the battery draining anymore. Just guessing stuff was running that i couldnt see.

It is an amazing phone. I wouldn't own anything else that Cell South has to offer and living in MS, I would not be a customer of ANY OTHER cell provider : period!

2 years ago and I can't put it down. Best phone ever. No 17ing way any other phone comes close. I don't care what anyone else says it isn't better than the iPhone.

but the phone itself I highly recommend. It is the identical version of the iPhone except with Android. Great phone powered by Android OS. You will enjoy it greatly if you purchase it.

If you use it as a computer, you'll be charging it by 3 or 4 in the afternoon. If you use it mostly just as a phone, it'll last all day and night. It's funny how much we all use our phones for so much **** and then ***** about battery life...myself included. Last week, I mowed and weed eated my yard. I have a large yard so I was outside all day. I checked my e-mails and sixpack before I started. I made a couple of calls and sent about 5 text messages that day. At 7:00 pm I had 60% battery life left. Most days I'm charging by 4:00 because I burn up the interweb on that bad boy!

You're right, CS doesn't know when or if they'll get the Iphone. The Galaxy has been holding it's own pretty well though and with even newer Android phones on the horizon, I don't think they are too worried about the Iphone atm.

As for the battery life. Download JuiceDefender you can toggle 3g on and off whenever you want and while your phone is idle your 3g will cut off. This will save you major battery life. Task Manager also helps a lot too when you can kill the apps running in the background.

I have had Galaxy for 4 months now..before had iphone for 2 years. Typically I've noticed thataround six months of charging, dying, charging cycles is when all batterieslose performance. Right now, I would give slight edge to Galaxy at this point for battery life just for mere fact you can replace. Iphone, well we allknow thatwill never happen. To me, efficient 3d processing chips (just read about this the other day) and batteries are the key components. I could change my mind on all this though this fall when I get to use the Galaxy on gameday (specifically in the stadium.) I really hope all reports on CS coverage in Starkville and stadium are as good as people with CS say it is.</p>

charge it for 20 hours with the phone on, then charge it for 15 with the phone off, then charge it another 34 with the phone on.

You should be good to go then.

Yes, Cell South will still pay your upgrade fee if you are upgrading from a Hero.

The Galaxy S has a decent battery life. It is definitely better than the Hero. My Galaxy battery will last about 20-40 hours usually, depending on use. If you have a Hero, and go to the Galaxy, it will be the best upgrade you've ever made. The Hero is a bottom of the line Android device, while the Galaxy is a top of the line Android device.

It will for sure be longer than a year before Cell South has the iPhone, so no point in waiting on it. I think several years is a better estimate.

I wouldn't wait around for any other phone, get the Galaxy. There is an upgrade coming for it soon too that will upgrade the version of Android on it. You will be able to do the upgrade on your phone easily.

It's not an ongoing promotion. It is being handled case-by-case if someone is having issues with their Hero.

they will pay your termination fee and your first month is free. The Galaxy's are $99 right now after a $50 mail in rebate.

much more customizable. There are thousands of widgets you can download and make the phone look however you want it. to do this with the iphone you have to jailbreak it. If i knew how to take a picture of my screens and upload them here id show you but plenty of other people have that you can check out on google.

(1) charge it while the phone is completely off for 64 minutes and 22 seconds while the phone is suspended by it's power cord from the electric socket without touching the counter, the wall, the floor or anything else. The face of the phone must be facing the wall.

(2) Leave the power cord plugged in the same socket, but disconnect the phone and wait 14 hours and 58 minutes. Do not turn the phone on. Put the phone face down on top of the USA Today Life Section (works better if you put it on the Progressive Insurance Flo ad with the 2 ambiguous **** arguing about getting a watch back).

(3) Pick the phone up with a pair of meat tongs and carry it out in your front yard. Face East/Southeast and hold the phone slightly above shoulder level. Have a relative or neighbor turn the phone on while you're holding it with the tongs (you CANNOT personally touch the phone as your aura will disturb the electromagnetic enhancement you've now achieved). After it is powered on, hold the phone above your head, pointing the base of the phone generally at your forehead while raising your left foot off the ground.

of all smart phone users in the USA. That was prior to Verizon carrying the iphone. If any business tells you that they are not worried about a product that 50% of their potential customers are buying and using then they are crazy.

CS has always had a good business model and been pretty selective in their phones. If they get the opportunity to get the iphone, I promise you, they will jump at it.

I have never used droid phone but the people that I know that have tried it, complain constantly about the battery life. Maybe that has changed.

I know when I had the iphone, the battery and phone itself was great, the coverage with ATT, on the other hand, was terrible.

Do you happen to know of a date for this? No one in the company can seem to give me an answer. Seems as though CS is way behind the times on getting this out to its customers.

CS will get the Iphone when they have a chance at it. Never said that we wouldn't. But seeing as how AT&T and Verizon have been tying up the exclusive rights on the IPhone, Cellular South can only go forward with what it does have and can get it's hands on. And right now that's one of the hottest phone's (Galaxy) and brand of phones (Android) in today's market. Continuing to offer better plans and better service than the competition will always be a selling point of Cellular South.
