I first dreamed of becoming a lawyer in elementary school. I chased the dream through high school and college and made it a reality nearly 50 years ago. Even though I am very good at what I do, I have never really been satisfied with my career choice. I should have followed my second choice... being a cowboy.

I have a Criminal Justice Degree. I wanted to be a Police Officer. I only stumbled into my field of Corrections because they were testing for the Jail at the same time as they were testing for the Sheriff's Department. Dumb luck. Love the job but hate the politics of Corrections and Law Enforcement in today's society. We've empowered the criminals while putting our officers at even greater risk.

Got a degree in Computer Science when there were few colleges that offered the program. Been in the field ever since. I’ve worked in large corporations, small private companies, start-ups, and consulting firms across so many industries I can’t remember them all. Currently in the automotive industry. That’s what’s kept it interesting. Along with the ever-changing technology.

long since retired. Took a summer job on 1969 at an iron ore mine in the Adirondacks. Got hooked and spent my career in the mining in, predomintly coal with some uranium. People usually turn their noses up or shake their heads when I reveal my career

I was a janitor, a dishwasher, a garbageman.
I was a janitor, dishwasher and dug holes in cemeteries for foundations for the markers. Three feet deep to get below the freeze line.

I learned to fly my senior year at PSU thru the Army ROTC program. Loved flying and learned I could do it. Gained a lot of confidence that senior year. Went into the Army and became a helicopter pilot. I thought it was the best job in the world until I retired. Have been retired 9 years now and enjoy each day.

I’ve always been athletic and acrobatic but never thought I’d be an exotic dancer. Weird how things turn out. Also great how lucrative it can be. Sometimes my arms get tired giving ‘handies’ in the VIP room, but it’s a form of aerobics, that’s one way to put a positive spin on it

Yes, but did you decide on this career when you were in high school?
