I know some wanted RU to pursue him out of the transfer portal this past year. I watched some of the UNC-Pitt game last night, and when Jurkovec went down with an injury, Vielleux got his chance. He was REALLY, REALLY bad, completing 7 out of 18 passes for 85 yards with 2 interceptions.

Vielleux made numerous mental mistakes, too. The best completion I saw him throw didn't count because he was beyond the line of scrimmage when he threw it. The thing is he wasn't slightly beyond the line of scrimmage, he was a good 5 yards beyond it. Maybe it's the coaching he's getting at Pitt, and he would be better under KC, who knows.

And, the guy who just posted,"The point being" (Block R) was the ring leader.

So, that response is very strange coming from him. Lol
Of course he was Block S (Syracuse) loves the portal and the great Kyk wanted that qb too same guy who said if Gavin starts Greg will lose the locker room haha

Pitt has been a mess. Phil jurkovec was pretty decent at bc but has looked like hes seeing ghosts at pitt. Christian was very good in his limited reps at psu. He lit us up in 2021 going 15/24 for 265 and 3TDs

Pitt's OC/QB coach is Frank Cignetti, a very respected offensive mind, and, of course, their WR coach is the "great" Ty Underwood (lol). Vielleux's game against us was his career game to-date, may have been an anomaly rather than the norm.

Phil and Christian both suck. And it’s ridiculous for one poster to pin it on Pitt. Jurkovec had one decent year at BC, wasn’t good last year and absolutely sucked vs. WVU. It was so bad both announcers were calling him out. But yeah, everyone out there is better than Gavin. 🙄

What is Pitts pitch to HS QB recruits now? Come to Pitt and we will also recruit every one time highly rated QB that is in the portal.

I think everyone is ok with Wimsatt so far this season. He's played well.
Guess you haven’t read some wild posts on Facebook. The amazing thing with Gavin is he is developing as a QB with hardly any threats at WR or TE. Just imagine LJ Smith, Marco, Tyler Kroft and so many other at TE or an even longer list of WRs including LC, Britt, Brown, Underwood, heck even Aron C or Sean Ryan. Give him one or dare I say two on that list along with our running game. A man can dream.

Lots of QBs have had career days against us.

Jurk is one of the most over rated players I have seen. Kiper had him as a 1st round pick and the guy has never been even a decent QB in terms of actual performance. Tall? Yes Mobile? Yes Good Arm? Yes? Suck? Yes

Let’s hope Gavin sticks around when he has things figured out.
you mean transfer or leave for draft early?

either way I dont' think we have to worry. I don't think any p5 qb is nervous about losing his job to Gav to be honest

Was kind of curious and found the condensed game on YouTube, but this is what came up first. Does RU plan to return kicks?

As to Veilleux, he was avoiding the sack here, and nice play by UNC defender, and poor support by WR.

Whoops:

More-looks OK here:

And here too:

QBs were under pressure all night:

Will reserve judgement until more film is available

I definitely see improvement this year but his completion percentage is too low at 52%, and some bad throws cost us yesterday. On the pivotal 4th and 2, I believe his throw before that required the wr to dive for the ball and land 2 yards short, if he hits him in stride it is a first down. Then the pick six, if a screen is blown up you throw it away or run, or 4th down then run. There was an earlier quick out that the wr was open and would have gotten eight yards but the ball was way off, 2nd and 10 instead of 2nd and 2. He obviously made some great throws that helped and kept is close for most of the game and I don't expect him to be perfect. Just needs a little more improvement on accuracy and decision making and then he will be a weapon.

I’m not a fan or of that style of offense either. His brother Curt at JMU has been doing very well though. 4-0 so far this year and has done a good job in his tenure there.
Yup, his brother is the better coach of the two. Frank cig is basically john mcnulty. Game has passed them by

I think it has more to do with one having NJ's own Kenny Pickett and the other being without a 1st rd. draft pick at the position. I believe it was *** that passed on him, kid was dying for an offer that never came.

The funniest guy is that Schiano hater poster who said Schiano not getting a transfer portal QB was Coaching Malpractice. 😂😂😂
The funniest posts are those that want to bury a young college QB's career after a small handful of shaky starts. I would not draw any broad conclusions from the UNC Pitt game. If the trend continues into several games, well then, OKAY.

Yes, One game and only transfer QB. The main point is those posters crying about Schiano and Ciarrocca not getting a transfer QB. The QB example used could be this guy or Ben Bryant or Luke Altemeyer or Tav Jackson.

The decision by Schiano to stick with his own recruited and developing QB will turn out to be the correct decision.

I have been mildly critical of not getting a transfer QB. Not so much to supplant Gavin, but as a capable backup in case Gavin is injured. Evan has shown to be serviceable. It would be interesting to see how he does in KC's offense, which is much more functional than the past few years. Onward, upward.

let's hope so because only a fool puts all their eggs in one basket and only a bigger trusts Greg when it comes to QBs given his history

Gav had done ok, not great and not poor and I think he's getting better but we clearly need more at that position

If you don't see that, you're delusional or know little about football

ask yourself this; would Gav start over any other B10 starting QB today?

Yea, I trust Rutgers95 ( the guy from the CE Board who pretended to be something he was not ) more than Kirk Ciarrocca, who is running the offense, the QB room, QB development and QB recruiting.

Yea, I remember you.

Hopefully Simon has developed under KC. Think he has 2 years after this year. Capable backup.
Sheppard- we shall see.
There are two non-scholarship QBs on roster, but only including scholarship QBs.
Surace- If he commits, good addition.

Re Miami- 7 QBs on roster, but looks like 3 (maybe 4) are walkons.

too soon to say 'hopefully he's developed under kc' as kc hasn't been here long enough but yes, I'm in the same camp

I just haven't seen anything yet on Gav that makes me think he's the difference maker we need at qb. He's better, will get better, but he's not a great passer and that will bite us.

we need more and better qbs and we need to hit the portal. All these cats running at the mouths are fools to think otherwise. our record is somewhat misleading imho

That‘s the model every successful football programs has. We’re always afraid if we add real competition, we’ll Hurt the current QB feelings and they might transfer away. All team recruits the best every year even if you get 4 4 stars QB for the last 4 years.

A quality throwing QB in next year transfer portal might start to think Rutgers is a good transfer location since we have the RB, good defense, decent offense line. Only need QB and WR.
