My dad has a mare due to have a colt at any hour. He’s got her in a good dry barn but it’s not heated. He has been worried sick that she’s gonna have it and it’ll freeze to death. He’s been to check on her every couple hours so that he can dry it off ASAP but is there a shot or anything that you can give one to postpone labor for a few days? I’ll hang up and listen. Thanks in advance.

No as to any shot. Keep the foal dry and out of the wind. Make sure there is a stall filled with hay and the mother will take care of the rest. Foals have been dropping in Northern and Western states for years. It would be nice if there were a heat source, but he is doing all the right things. I hope everything goes well until this weekend when we get back in the 50s and up.

I second all of this.
