Passed away today. That was one hot band in the late 60's, early 70's. First ever concert for me in the summer of 69 or 70 (can't remember for sure) at the Civic Auditorium.

I just saw that on the news.RIP sir. Their album "IT AIN'T EASY" was the first album I ever bought when I was a kid. Saved my allowance to get it. I actually went to their concert 3 years ago here in GI. Loved it.Only concert I've ever been to where I knew every single word of every song. Went back stage, met them & got pics. Love that group.

Some trivia involving 3 Dog Night: When they were probably the hottest act in the U.S., the promoter, Barry Fey, booked them into Denver. A friend of Barry's talked him into a British band as the opening act. It was that band's first show in the States. That band?
Led Zeppelin.

Just turned my Apple radio over to Three Dog night station for the afternoon....very sad indeed. RIP. Always loved the story of how the name was picked from the Australian Aborigines. They would sleep with one dog if it was chilly, two if it got colder and if it was below freezing that was a three dog night.

First concert I went to at Pershing Auditorium was Three Dog Night with T Rex opening. Sort of an odd combo, but a great concert. Always thought Chuck Negron would go first. RIP.
