Was watching an old Rockford Files episode, and Isaac Hayes was a guest. While I was aware that he recorded some music, when I looked him up was surprised that he composed the soundtrack for the movie and the theme song to Shaft. Also, he was a session musician at Stax Records, and he co-wrote many of Sam and Dave's biggest hits, including Soul Man, Hold on, I'm Coming. He died way too young at 65 in 2008.
