An example of how good Black Sabbath was in its prime and live, with Ozzy sounding great--and the drummer.

Don't know why I never noticed, but last week, War Pigs was on the radio, and I remarked to my better half about how Bill Ward was playing lead on drums for parts of that song. Just brilliant musically and lyrically timeless.

I'm not a huge fan of the Beatles or the post Beatles catalog, but MTV Classics just played this video, which I was not aware of. It's a cover of a John Lennon Song "How", and the lyrics fit the mold of a lot of Ozzy songs.

So now my YouTube feed is feeding all sorts of Ozzy content. This is a fantastic interview. There was Ozzy and John Osbourne, the guy who played Ozzy on stage. John was a mellow, kind and thoughtful guy. Alice Cooper is much the same. Alice does an evening radio show in Arizona, and he is a great listen.

I did just learn something about their first album, an album I consider one of my favorite albums of all time.

And that is Evil Woman(never heard this song before) was on the original release in Europe but was replaced by Wicked World here in the US. I obviously had the US version. Quick listen to Evil Woman and I'd say Wicked World was the (much?) better song and a better fit on the album.

Ozzy's concert intros were always hilarious. He was a huge Beatles fan. This one is great.

RIP Ozzy! Battling Parkinson's for many years, sadly it was only a matter of time.

I find it almost hypocritical on how every radio station was eulogizing him this morning. Hell, they were even going on about him on WKTU, really? Of course, they'd never play a single song by him. At least other stations did that.

Little late, but just saw this:

Thrash, grunge, doom metal, and stoner metal. Metallica, Soundgarden, Alice in Chains. Other than doom metal (unless Type O Negative is doom metal), all staples and great listening when lifting or mountain biking.

Rick opened with Into the Void- one of the most influential songs in the Sabbath Catalog.

Anthrax did a great version of that song at the Back to the Beginning show.

Soundgarden did a great version:

And this version by a little known band called Exhorder is solid:

Been watching a few of “The Osbourne’s” reruns. Some are pretty damn funny.
