This matchup will mark the first time that the two programs have ever faced off against one another on the gridiron and it’s also the only non-conference game scheduled for Rutgers Football in the 2029 season.

Despite never playing Central Michigan, the Scarlet Knights have played many other MAC opponents previously and will play two more this upcoming season in Ohio (Aug. 28th) and Miami-Ohio (Sept. 6th). They also have future MAC games set up against UMass (2026), Akron (2027), and Kent State (2028, 2030).
