I have been to almost all of the SEC schools with theexceptionof Kentucky. Is it worth the trip? Do they have nice area with bars andrestaurantsetc...??? My favorite is Athens and I know many on this boarddislikeUF but I liked theclosenessof the bars andrestaurants. Is UK similar?

I have been to UK a few times, and was honestly disappointed. Lexington is a good town, and there are some good bars near campus on the edge of downtown. However, the campus wasn't very pretty to me, and their athletic facilities are not aesthetically appeasing. Commonwealth is very generic, and Rupp is very disappointing in that it is a tin box. Good town though.

No campus atmosphere. The highlight of your trip will probably be driving downtown and trying to sneak into Rupp if you've never been inside.

was when they had Woodson and actually cared about football for a little while. There were some honeys in the bars downtown, but that's pretty much everywhere.

I've actually enjoyed most trips to Lexington. Commonwealth Stadium is parked out on the far south end of the campus, and the "college bar/restaurant" area is around S. Limestone on the other end of campus (closer to downtown). Downtown Lexington has plenty of restaurants in the Main Street/N. Limestone area. To make the trip worthwhile, you could add on a distillery tour (Woodford Reserve, Wild Turkey and Four Roses are about 30 mins. away) or Lexington Brewing Co. is right by downtown. City-wise it's more like Knoxville (way more than anyone there would admit) than Athens.

Not sure how things line up this year, but the last weekend of Fall races fell on the same weekend as our game with them in 2011. The skirts aren't quite as short as they are in the Spring, but you'll have a good time.

Other than that, yeah... The gameday experience isn't too much to brag about and you'll be listening to UK basketball talk about 90% of the time. Normally, basketball talk wouldn't bother me all that much but the false sense of reality that is the UK fanbase can be a little too much to bear at times. I remember a guy telling me last year that the difference between Cal being at Memphis and KY is that "at Memphis, he had to go to the recruits. At Kentucky, the top recruits all come to him." Yeah, all that god-like prestige really worked well for them during the pre-Cal decade, didn't it?
