Was at Rockefeller this afternoon. No signs of disruption. Lots of security and police as usual, and the side streets blocked off as they will be for the next month near the center.

Watched the entire ceremony go off without a hitch. First time hearing of any protest is right now reading this thread. Nothing happened on Tv either.

Ironically it sounds like they could get no where near the tree and ended up at the Fox News christmas tree down the street instead LOL

I worked from home yesterday because this is a huge nightmare for those of us who work in Rock Center even without the insane protestors. Huge police presence again this morning. But the tree does look gorgeous!

So what? People protested and the tree was lit without incident. Who cares?

Yeah no worries.

An angry violent mob roaming around Manhattan (police were assaulted) that wanted to disrupt the tradition of the tree lighting.
At least one swastika hoisted up.

Nothing to see , no one that lives or works in Manhattan should care.

I hear ya bruh

If the city had enough police to protect the event, then yes
The city cared enough to get it done
If NO ONE cared, the tree lighting would have been a sh&t show

Its just the fact that you have to recognize the threat and be ready, as long as you realize that

There's always protection there for that event. Now folks are being silly on this thread.

If any thing , the Palestinians in the US are very passionate in their protests, and if given free reign, would have shut the event down

Other protesting groups for other causes might be satisfied just to make their point be heard

as someone who works in the area would you say traffic is down compared to other years? I used to take my daughter and her friends in every year for the whole Christmas tour, we would take the train in, have lunch, walk around, it was always a lot of fun especially when they all turned 21 and we could have drinks. Now that they are all working and having kids obviously we stopped going but I always miss it this time of year. So i was just curious if its still as crowded, because I can remember some years you could not even move anywhere near that area of the tree and rink.

Not without incident. Or are you OK with cops getting injured?
I'm sure he's not. But this thread was about a Christmas tree in NYC, and died off 2 years back until necro-posted back to life yesterday with an off-topic CE board post.

The necro-post yesterday was obviously trying to leverage the originally apolitical theme of the thread to start a CE type conversation on the FB board - one which has absolutely nothing to do with a Rock Ctr christmas tree.

As if the mods somehow won't figure that out.

No I'm not, just as I wasn't during that Jan. 6 thing which many here deny happened. Everything I have read, says seven arrests out of thousands of people who were there. No serious injuries were reported as a result of any conflicts with protesters. The police know what they are facing in that city every day and are prepared to deal with it, as they were last night.

The precedent was set with the Thanksgiving day parade, with over 30 arrests and multiple people in the protest group, attempting to disrupt the festivities

Fortunately, last night went off without a hitch, as police presence was beefed up, which is a credit to the brave men and women in blue who risk their lives every day to protect us

But that's the point, no one is really given "free reign" during a protest. There are always parameters spelled out and police are there to enforce them. Now, this presence was certainly escalated because of the current tensions, as it should have been. But let's face it, the presence for these events post 9-11 is always heavy.

Still tons of tourists, many international. They have the area right by the tree blocked off which creates congestion. A few years ago someone set fire to the tree in front of Fox so they are being really careful. Lots of people going to see the Radio City Xmas show and into FAO Schwartz. I'll be doing that later in December. Overall, a nice place to be at this time of the year but I get grumpy trying to get from Point A to Point B.

Then he should write what he means, because he wrote it about last night, not 2 years ago on some thread I've never read on the CE, that it went off without incident. And where does this January 6 ******** enter this conversation? Some false fuckling analogy?

Crazy to think, would we allow these mobs to do what they’re doing in 2001 after 9/11?

10/7 is Israel’s 9/11 , Hamas = Al Queda with the exception that the people voted them in.

It’s truly insane

Also, for the girly snowflakes, If we can have a thread on the Landing Bridge and how it affects people that use it we can also have a conversation on how these mobs are trying to disrupt your movement in Manhattan

This is a good read.
Who are these idiots protesting for Kidnappers and Terrorists?

I feel bad for law-enforcement officers today, it’s like they’re working with their hands are tied behind their backs

They are under the microscope 24/7, and the lack of respect for them is astounding

Many of the good guys and gals in blue have left the force since the defund the police movement in certain cities that led to the George Floyd/blm riots in The Summer of Love

It’s a thankless job for sure

You reap what you sow

If you want to elect certain officials who make certain laws that essentially prohibit the officers from doing their jobs, then you need to expect a significant resignation or officers taking a well earned early retirement

Along with that, not as many officers will be willing to join the force as previous years, and a massive uptick crime is inevitable

Which is fine if you want to live in New York City, but keep that **** out of the great Garden State

All fruit of the poisonous tree (and the CE post was the poison).

The post about protestors should never have been made in this thread, it should've been made on the CE board. The situation in the ME, and all things related to it, is obviously pure CE stuff.

To a certain extent, I get that, as teachers are the same way.

Kids are beyond disrespectful due to a lack discipline enforcement, yet they still keep voting the same way, knowing that the policies will not change, and the problem will only continue to get worse

Thread is a couple years old, revived by a hobo with too much time on his hands.

FYI.

He’s not a hobo but he does buy beer by the can.
Then he should write what he means, because he wrote it about last night, not 2 years ago on some thread I've never read on the CE, that it went off without incident. And where does this January 6 ******** enter this conversation? Some false ****ling analogy?

“January 6 ********” made me laugh.

The low-SAT score crowd on here can be quite amusing.
