Saw him in Charlotte at the 93 NCAA game. Still one of the greatest UK experiences I ever experienced.
Perhaps the greatest first half of college basketball ever played.
Go watch it on YouTube.
I remember the t'shirts that came out after that game. "Can't see the Forest for the Three's" 😂

He was part of one of my favorite draft classes ever in 1993:

Chris Webber
Shawn Bradley
Penny Hardaway
Jamal Mashburn
J.R. Rider
Bobby Hurley
Calbert Cheaney
Allan Houston
Vin Baker
Rodney Rogers
Sam Cassell

Rogers and most of those guys (Mashburn, Hardaway, Webber, Houston, Rogers, Montross) played against the 1992 Dream Team and beat them. Bobby Hurley and Grant Hill were also on that practice squad.

Damn that is sad. I hate when people get such a good life or any life for that matter taken away due to a terrible illness or injury. I’m happy he got a decent amount of time to live afterward, but I know it doesn’t seem that long now that the time has passed. R.I.P. big fella.

Yeah college was so stacked back then.

Also, consider the guys who returned to college for another year following 1993.

Jason Kidd
Glen Robinson
Grant Hill
Jalen Rose
Juwan Howard
Eddie Jones
Donyell Marshall
Eric Montross
Brian Grant

The early-to-mid nineties were absolutely loaded.

Some of the greatest basketball for college and pros ever IMHO. Even low scoring NBA games because they were wars.

He was a really good player. I’ll never forget that game in 93. The Roger’s-Mashburn matchup was the talk. UK put on an absolute clinic and the game was pretty much decided by the 10 minute mark in the 1st half. I didn’t realize that he was paralyzed. RIP Rodney Rogers
