O.K. 1-3% from Medicare and Social Security, something that won't actually happen because elected officials won't touch these sacred cows. Good luck cutting 3% from defense spending too. It's really easy to do something that won't happen.
They’d absolutely do it if people got onboard with it. But people are idiots.

People look out for their best interests.

You’ve got to convince folks to decrease their incomes when their buying power ain’t as great as it used to be.

And that’s hard to do.

How is cutting spending gonna decrease my income?

And if you are suggesting more than 50% of the country depends on some type of government assistance that’s a GD shame we’d even whisper it.

Also, if we cut properly we could cut taxes in the near future. Which means more income in people’s pocket.

It may not but it’ll likely decrease seniors’ buying power…

Ain’t no suggesting going on so there’s no need to whisper…

Government spending affects everyone— some less than others… and I’m not just talking about income…

I for one am glad DOGE went in and found a lot of that f'ing insane stuff and made it public. I think it woke a lot of people up to what's really going on, even if individually we are mostly powerless to stop it.
I personally know that some of the fraud reported by DOGE was untrue. If the DOJ doesn't soon start publishing referrals for prosecution for the uncovered fraud, we'll have to start second guessing...

Not really, We called for an ambulance. An hour later, nothing.. They were still on their way. We finally scooped up that person and drove 30 minutes to the nearest hospital. Everyone says wait, they will bring the hospital to you and get you better care quicker than driving but not in rural areas. You may get an local EMT to your locale and they are better than nothing but transport? Besides, ambulances cost $$$$$ big time.
Unless the person is bleeding out, coding, has a spinal injury or just too big to move, transport via POV. We recently found my MIL non responsive, we live in Flowood within 10 miles of 5 different hospitals. We transported via POV.

It’s sad we’ve let it get to a point where we depend on the government for basic things.

Absolutely sad and pathetic

Eh

Depends on several things…. among them being: what are considered basic things, the situation, and the organizations/people who are willing and have the means to help

Able bodied people shouldn’t be depending on the government to feed them

To be fair, the poor people of MS are not voting Republican. You are twisting that information. No need for a historian.
Ah, you think all poor people are dems, or black in Mississippi? You should really get out more. Maybe visit a Trump rally. Or a trailer park. Seriously the dumbest post I've seen on here, and that's saying something!

Why is that sad? You don't like it but we depend on government for a number of things. So what. I depend on govt to lock up criminals, fund schools and soon to pay for my retirement and healthcare.

Keep'm poor, dumb, and fat/sick in MS!
That's our motto here isn't it? Nothing in the BBB changes that at all.

The BBB loan caps for graduate degrees is going to devastating to healthcare in poor states. It is a gut punch.

Whatev. Basic means whatever you decide it means. I'm sure you're not gonna rely on Medicare or social security. I guess we also shouldn't rely on government (public schools and universities) to teach basic spelling and grammar.

They are definitely doing a bang up job of it now.
