Anyone doing anything? I’m kicking around a few ideas but would like to hear any others. I just want to make enough extra to fund my son’s hobbies and family vacations. Lawns, catering, and gigolo all have their +\- and I may do one or all. What do y’all have going?
Not sure how many of these would be interesting, and these are more things I've thought about doing with my kids so they have work that pays a little more and is flexible around their school and other activities:
Installing car and boat radios.
Boat electronics. If you look at most people's boat electronics, it's a 17ing bird's nest of wires. Even "professional" shops will do shoddy stuff. As far as I can tell, just zip tying wires and labeling and heat shrinking your connections will put you in the top 1% of people that do that work.
Upholstery and canvas work.
Glass tinting
Pressure washing. Had a friend that did convenience stores. They want you working at night as much as possible so you're not interfering with their business. He was making probably $60k a year doing that before he got tired of it.
Basically looking at a lot of things where there is just enough investment or learning required that you're not competing against every low wage worker in the world. Also looking at things that would be useful to them and help them avoid spending money on things they might want.
