season, a question for the Pack and that is how do you control the annoying flies that appear out of nowhere as soon as I fire up the smoker or grill or griddle on the deck?
I hate flies more than ole miss but dang they are hard to get rid of so I’m sure the Pack has some solutions.
I’ve got the silver table top fans, tiki torches going and some insect/repellent type candles and it helps but doesn’t get rid of them all.

I make a trap out of 2 liter bottles, watermelon rinds, and water.

ETA video. I made these for wasp and yellow jackets. Didn’t catch a single one. Wiped out the fly population. Doesn’t have to be watermelon rind. I’ve used banana peels, apple cores, beer, juice, honey, bbq sauce, etc.

Tell the misses to put on her crotch less panties and set her a lawn chair over on the edge of the patio. Fly problem solved.

Feel for you man if your misses smells bad enough to catch flys.
I can’t imagine how bad it’s been for you.
Good luck

Pick up the dog **** outta your yard.
Not a single piece of dog **** lays around for more than a few hours if that.
He does spend about half of the time outside but I don’t think it’s his **** that causes flies to congregate.

Golden Malrin works well and you might also get rid of any coons in the area. So, don’t use it round the neighbors’ cats or near deer feeders.

I do have raccoons occasionally.
If the Lab is inside at night, I’ve had those SOB’s sitting on my deck railing a couple of times over the years.
I’ve also got fox, coyotes, deer, rabbits, squirrels, chipmunks, lizards, owls, and an abundance of Cardinals, Wrens, bluebirds, Mockingbirds, blackbirds, crows and even a bald Eagle for only one year for whatever reason and only one copperhead in 22 years thank goodness - - one that I’ve SEEN and killed anyway.
It’s the wild kingdom in my hood!

Number one reason I quit using those things.
Caught a gazillion flies but couldn’t deal with the smell - and there are always the other gazillion plus waiting to invade.
I got one sitting on top of the fence in the backyard out of the way. Seems to help even if it's far off. Not fool proof but seems to keep most of them "over there" and not by me. Every now and again I'll catch a whiff but I have a murder cat as well so I'm used to it with all of her various kills I have the pleasure of finding.

These things work pretty good to keep them off your food if you are entertaining outside.

Get a couple of fly buckets.
