I stopped at the (Exxon Or Chevron can remember what it was) on the corner of County Line and Ridgewood to get something to drink. When I left the building some older guy who was pumping gas into a car that had Tenn license plates asked me was I a State fan or a Ole Miss fan. I told him State. Then he presented to tell me his name but I can't remember it. (The little simple things I let go by me.) Then he asked me did I know the two songs, bulldog blitz and dog pound rock. I said I was not sure. Then he said that he was a song writer and musician and that he wrote those two songs. Then he said that he lived in Jackson at the time but lives in Nashville now. He said his mother lives in Jackson and she has cancer. He then said that he was funding his trip to Jackson by selling DVD's with the songs he has written and asked would I like to buy one. He said they were $10.00 I said no. I did not believe his *** but I gave him $5.00 for his creativity in in the way he came up with for asking for money. I thought it was way better idea then standing on the corner with a sign that said I'll work for food. I would have given the $10.00 but five is all I had. He said thanks and went back to his car.

But then I am not a Jimmy Buffet fan and he might have written one for them.</p>

I went to high school with his brother at Prep back in the day, so when he told me his name, I was able to ask him a few quesitons to determine if he was legit - at least on who he said he was. They just buried his dad (Dick Acker -managed Packard's plant in Clinton and later helped create the Jackson Enterprise Center - really a good man.)

His methods are suspect but at least he has something to sell instead of just asking for money. He probably cleans up pretty well money-wise at the end of the day or until the service station attendants run him off.

Over Christmas I received a CD of his with the MSU CD label but when we popped it into the player all that came out were OleMiss fight songs and a couple songs that were dissing Starkville. It was pretty damn funny because we thought perhaps he did it on purpose, but apparently it was a mistake. The person that bought it for me purchased it from "Ace" while Ace was pimping his wares at a LIBRARY.
