Grantland.com has an excerpt (it goes without saying, if it's from Grantland-- assume mature language) from "After Friday Night Lights" on its site. The whole story (about 34 pages) is supposed to be available as an e-book for $2.99. It's supposed to be available for the Nook too (but that link's not there yet).
Also, I was checking Byliner.com (the publisher of "After Friday Night Lights") and it has Taylor Branch's The Cartel which is an expansion of the piece he did that appeared in last October's Atlantic.
And finally, Jonathan Mahler has Death Comes to Happy Valley.
I don't know if I'll read Mahler (I know a few rabid Penn State people who've been posting a lot on another board that I've become weary of reading more about the topic now but will revisit it later). The others-- I'll likely purchase.
