Sticking with that era. Hopefully this player is inducted to the Hall of Fame next year. Long overdue, he missed by 1 vote in 2014, but it seems like the momentum for his induction is strong for next year.

What feared slugger was the 1964 National League Rookie of the Year, and later the1972 American League MVP.

There have been 6 MLB players to lead the majors in triples and home runs in a single season. Who was the last player to accomplish it ? OFC

Hmm, that leads me away from the 3 ALL time greats I was considering of Mays, Mantle, and DiMaggio as options.

Dave Winfield ?

Mays and Mantle are two of the last three who did it and they did it in the same year. Winfield us a good guess and a player with similar skills and position was the player just about the same age and time as Winfield was playing. Played entire career with one team. OFC

Carew

OFC

Carew never hit many home runs. My guy wasn't a switch hitter so that leaves out Murray. Leftfielder, later a d.h. Many times an A.L. all star. Played along the aqua velva man who was his teams centerfielder. In my opinion despite all the awards he was underestimated. OFC

The Mets have had 3 players reach the 30/30 club for HR'S & SB'S in the same season. Howard Johnson did it 3 times, Daryl Strawberry did it once.

Who is the 3rd Met to reach the 30/30 club ?
