Where have we historically ranked vs where we are now? It seems like if there was one area that Kennum could help State improve upon its this.

The second link in my post has a 10 year history. State has been as high as #88 and as low as #99 during the last 10 years. Our 2022 R&D increased by 10% over 2021 but we are still ranked 97th in both years. This shows that you cannot rest as the competition gets better every year.

In the 90's I worked on a research ship that had a large contingent of folks from John Hopkins Applied Physics Lab. We made a trip to the Persian Gulf after Dessert Storm. They do interesting things.

Still ranked in the Top 100 institutions for R&D expenditures with $300M. A long way to catch #1 Johns Hopkins at $3.1 billion. Of course, JH is in the back pocket of the Defense Department with its Applied Physics Lab grabbing $1.9 billion of D of D dollars.

We've got to attract more PhDs with US citizenship so they can get secret clearances. Too many times we can only attract foreign nationals unable to pursue defense dollars.
