Since the hive is so well versed in the area of travel, I thought I would throw my destination into the hat. I’m taking the family to Stone Mountain in November, pulling the camper and staying in the campgrounds.

What are the do’s and don’ts for Stone Mountain/Atlanta? Traveling with children with ages from 4-12.

I’ve never been but a co-worker tried to go last year and there was apparently a huge protest there over the confederate memorial. I’m guessing that was likely an isolated incident as everything was being protested last summer.

Broad daylight is your friend. I say that with no sarcasm. Nice place to visit, but the surrounding areas can get dicey.

Obviously November in the south is iffy, but I have been to SM many times and have always had a great time. The laser light show is great, but will not be still going on in Nov. I've haven't been to SM outside of the summer, but hopefully the Christmas light show will be going during your visit. It looks like there are a lot of Christmas themed shows/events are put on beginning in mid-Nov. I don't know if the tram to the top will be open during your visit, but there are easy trails to the top (weather permitting). The duck boats are fun (likely not running in Nov) and there is a train you can ride. IMO, planning your route to avoid as much ATL traffic as possible is the most important issue. I've spent a good deal to time in the centennial park area (but not since the craziness of last summer) and there is much to safely do in the daytime, Coke Museum, Aquarium, CF HOF and other attractions. Parking is tight, so Uber as much as possible.

I went with my friends family to Medieval Times. It's a fun show and the food, while not great is better than you would expect.

There is a German restaurant in Stone Mountain that I have never made it to, but I hear great things about.

Whoever recommend Heirloom Market BBQ to me deserves a medal. It was unique and out of sight.

Went a few years ago with about 8 and 6 year olds. Ride to the top of mountain, walk down the trails. It’ll take a while, but it’s all downhill. Take a backpack with drinks and snacks for the kids, so you can take your time.

There’s a ropes course outside of the amusement park that was great.

There’s an Original Pancake House in Stone Mountain - hit that up for breakfast/brunch.
