For all the flack this season has gotten, the ending 17ing delivered.

Eh, I didn’t love it. Ending was a downer for me. They went “Life of Pi” with the “choose your own ending” theme. Although I did like that they un-retconned their own retcon concerning the big bad of the series.

I'm bothered that they left the military part unresolved. No comeuppance for Sarah Connor? They just all pack up and leave after the gate closes and that's it? It seems a little too quick and neat.

Agree. They needed at least a short bit showing a de-brief with the military explaining to them all that happened.
Otherwise, was a good ending.

Im two episodes in to the final season, and have lost interest. Will I be able to follow rhe plot if I jump straight to the finale?

It wasn’t really a “choose your own ending”. If you look at several plot-laws of the supernatural stuff in the show, only 1 of the 2 options was plausible.
