Anything at all, since I know virtually nothing about the area except that's where the Masters is held. Best restaurants, best areas to live, etc. I'd be working at Ft. Gordon.

It's a pretty good area to be in. I've been here almost 9 years now. The best places to live are in Columbia County. Evans, Martinez, parts of Grovetown, etc. You might also want to look at North Augusta, SC, just on the other side of the river. There are a good number of restaurants with a handful of local places. The Snug, Frog Hollow downtown, Calvert's, La Maison, Rae's Coastal Cafe, etc. There are others as well, including pretty much all the chain restaurants you'd expect to find. One problem we have here though is that the CSRA (Central Savannah River Area) is quite large and includes a lot of rural and less populous places. It can be difficult to go out to eat on a Friday or Saturday night due to people coming in from all over. It's not bad, though, and not unlike what you would find anywhere else on a Friday or Saturday, I guess.

If you play golf you're coming to the right place. There are tons of good courses to play, both in GA and SC. Even Ft. Gordon has a 27 hole course that is widely regarded as the #1 Army installation course in the country.

If you need to know anything specific or need help feel free to PM me.

How'd you leave out Rinehart's and French Market Grill? I know Sconyer's is over-rated but it's still pretty good.

McCrae's right about the areas of town to live in, though.

Rhinehart's is pretty good and I should have included it, but French Market Grill is just overrated to me. I don't really care for it. I haven't been to Sconyer's in a few years but I don't really care for it either. Mot's BBQ on Columbia Road used to be pretty good.

LSWHO? We're debating the culinary aspects of Richmond and Columbia Counties here. Don't trouble us with the next football opponent!

Sconyer's hash and rice is the best I've ever tasted. Their vinegar based 18XX (can't remember the name/year) sauce is fantastic. The rest of their fare is run of the mill and nothing to write home about.

I don't care for sweets or desserts, but French Market Grill's Peanut Butter Pie is to die for.

Thanks for the info, guys. Keeping my fingers crossed I get the job, since it's a pretty good pay increase and frankly, I'm a bit tired of the Columbus, GA area.

Frog Hollow, baked mac-n-cheese is great

been here going on 22 years now. If you have kids in school Columbia CO. schools the best public schools in area. Housing is more but for good reason. New cyber center being located at Fort Gordon which is expected to bring a few thousand folks into the area so real estate may start going up soon. My kids started in Lakeside then moved to Evans school zones and wife teaches at Grovetown. Sons are at Ga Tech and Kennesaw State can't really go wrong in Col Co.
