Same here. Big thanks to whomever fixed it.

Makes me wonder if I was targeted or if that’s some random thing.

We use google adsense on our mobile view. They are usually quick to fix bad ads.

I turned off the ones I think we were causing the problem for now. I will try and turn them back on tomorrow.

I got it too on my cell phone. I think it has to do with which ads the host is running. I don't think it's hard for them to fix it after they've been alerted that it's happening.

iPhone? Don’t know if it makes a difference or not, but I’ve never got a pop up

I added back the code because I read that google has fixed it. Let me know if you still get it.

Do advertisers think they are going to get positive responses from people? Or, even more of a stretch, do some people really respond to a pop-up in a positive way and go buy the product? I make it a point to NOT buy anything on a pop-up. They are infuriating. A while back, don't remember what site I was on, I kept getting a pop-up advertising Jaguar cars. I can't picture anyone well off enough to buy a Jag being influenced by a pop-up.

Always wondered the same thing. They are more annoying than anything. I don't see the advantage off advertising like that. I am also starting to see a ridiculous amount of "make money at home" ads within comment sections of random sites, especially on sites using Facebook comments. It's always some ridiculously fake profile.

It costs them nothing to post a reply that's really an ad, so they make money even if there's only one response. Kinda like the scam artists that keep calling or emailing.
