Hopefully the Jets, if they decide to go with Fitazpatrick, they will let Geno go or trade him. No doubt in my mind, after watching a lot of NFL games this year, that Geno Smith is a starting QB in the NFL. There are at least 8 teams he would be a definite #1 QB for them.

I'd like to see a team with a top QB take Geno as a backup...preferably the Saints.

Last I saw Geno play he was not ready to start in the NFL and be successful. He has all the tools. He needs the development.

I watched him come in against the Raiders when Fitzpatrick got injured. He looked good. Especially for a QB that takes probably less than 10% of the snaps all week in practice.

Physical skill aside ... Geno will make it as an NFL QB only if he has learned a few lessons about actual humility and arrogance.

He needs to leave the Jets, way too much negative energy surrounding him, there is no amount of success he could achieve other than a Superbowl that would cause this town to warm up to him. The fans and media have written him off, he needs to head out, let the Jets have their fools gold flash in the pan journeyman.

Fitzpatrick did a great job of LEADING the Jets this year.

The operative word is "LEADING." Geno is obviously more athletic, faster and has the bigger arm. Fitzpatrick brought leadership and the team pulled together behind him. Don't diss the Jets...that team turned around dramatically and won 10 games.

To me, leadership is the single biggest asset required in a quarterback. If Geno has taken advantage of his apprenticeship this year, he will have learned a lot about leadership and that knowledge and skill will benefit him greatly.

I'm not sure that leaving the Jets right now would be a good thing for Geno. If he learns and grows, the backup job can help him a lot. If he is patient, and if the Jets are noticing growth in Geno, he could be ideally positioned to take over at QB for Fitzpatrick, who is older veteran who won't be around forever and is not the long term solution.

There is an awful lot of learning involved in becoming a solid NFL quarterback. It will be interesting to see how the Jets handle this situation in the off-season.

Only 7 teams in the NFL had a better record this year than the Jets. I'd say Fitzpatrick had a pretty good season. And today, Todd Bowles said that he wants to re-sign Fitzpatrick and that he is the starting quarterback in 2016.

he had an awful game yesterday. fitz crumbled under the wind and pressure. no surprise. that's what he does.

look, the jets knew fitz was not capable of winning the big game. they still know it. they had a chance to see if geno was the guy this year. next year, they might lose marshall to injury - he will be 32 next year. no qb, short of aaron rodgers, can win with the crap receivers geno had his first 2 years

chances are fleeting in the nfl. bowles and the jets blew it.
