OT. The Witcher

I watched the pilot and I'm itching to watch more because there won't be anymore til 2021 I believe.
I'm a huge fan of the games and have read one of the books. The world feels correct and the incident at the end of the episode is something that is alluded to but never shown in the games so I liked seeing that.
The episode started out a bit slow for the first half, but by the midpoint I was paying GoT levels of attention to it. Speaking of that- this is the first worthy successor to GoT I've seen despite many shows being dubbed that. The fights and music score are on par, the acting is pretty good, and despite being a world more magic that GoT as a whole they do well despite clearly having more of a season 1 GoT budget than a season 8 budget.
Excited to see more of what Geralt gets up to.

I caught the first episode and a half last night, and here are some of my initial thoughts...
- Really liking Henry Cavill as Geralt. I actually didn't watch a single preview after filming started because I didn't want to risk catching any spoilers, but he's really good, and you can tell he's all in with the character
- Like the fact that they're staying true to the mature subject matter rather than trying to make in more family friendly in an effort to draw in a wider audience. It's a big part of what makes the witcher stories unique
- Haven't seen a ton of combat in the first two episodes so far, but the one scene involving Geralt versus a group of town thugs was pretty awesome. I have a feeling that this is one area where the series is going to shine
I've yet to read any of the novels out there, but I'm a HUGE fan of the Witcher game franchise, and part of the reason is that they have some fantastic storytelling in them. Even random side quests have top notch lore and interactions weaved into them, so I was really looking forward to see what Netflix did with this series. So far, I've got to give them a big thumbs up, and I'm already looking forward to catching another episode or two tonight

Finished the season last night. Love it.
Other than a bit of a slow episode 1, was pretty flawless. I can see some people getting confused by how they jump around in time.
