This sounds like the bleakest Christmas song ever.Merry Christmas from the family, Christmas in Dixie, and Hard Candy Christmas. After that they can keep the rest of them. Christmas is a pretty miserable event around here ( Griswald style ) and every year I can’t wait for it to be over. I enjoy my kids and grandkids but after that the rest of the day is horrible. About 20 years ago they set our house on fire. Long story but no one was hurt thankfully. There was several thousand dollars in damages to the house. I pretty much haven’t had a good Christmas since I got married 48 years ago. I don’t expect the current arrangement to last over 1 or 2 more years at most and then hopefully we can get back to something actually enjoyable.
The Jews of that time expected the messiah to be a warrior king that would come and deliver them from the Romans. That's why most Jewish folks still don't believe Jesus is the Messiah. (But some do.) Actually, I believe she didn't know a lot of those things listed in the song. The first item in the song, for example, did she know He would walk on water? Did she suspect he may be capable of such things? Maybe. But did she know? I don't think so. Regardless... It's something good to think about."Mary Did You Know?" is by far my least favorite Christmas song. A) the music is usually haunting and sounds more at home at Halloween than the Holidays and 2) YES, Mary knew - it's right there in the story.
The best is " Merry Christmas from the family" Robert Earl Keen
I heard someone call "Mary Did You Know?" musical mansplaining."Mary Did You Know?" is by far my least favorite Christmas song. A) the music is usually haunting and sounds more at home at Halloween than the Holidays and 2) YES, Mary knew - it's right there in the story.
Never heard of it so watched video on YouTube. Interesting...but "family" doesn't rhyme with "cheese."The best is " Merry Christmas from the family" Robert Earl Keen
This is the worst Christmas Song.
I will forever love that song as my son was about 3 he was trying to sing it and was saying “police mommy duck” at the feliz navidad part.I will forever hate feliz navidad.
Around 10 years ago, a lady that sat next to me at work set it as her ringtone. She always kept her ringer volume at Max so she could hear her phone ringing if she was away from her desk. She then kept it as her ringtone for almost the full next year, middle of summer - i’d be on a call and 17ing feliz navidad starts blaring.
And then the craziest thing, early November she finally changes it back to a normal ring. Listen to that crap for 10 months after Christmas and she changed it when it was almost in season again
Daughter has been playing this one nonstop the past week
The first Christmas after my divorce where I didn’t have my kids (we alternate Christmas and Thanksgiving each year), I was pretty down in the dumps and this song came on the radio and I could not stop the 17ing waterworks. I’ve never had such a weird emotional reaction to a random song on the radio. I still get kind of misty when I hear this song.Hard Candy Christmas.
In this song, Sabrina Carpenter threatens to 17 Santa Claus if her boyfriend doesn’t start buying her better presents:
I haven't heard of most of these. The worst one that I think is actually pretty popular is Grandma Got Runover by a Reindeer. I can't stand it.
The first item in the song, for example, did she know He would walk on water? Did she suspect he may be capable of such things? Maybe. But did she know? I don't think so. Regardless... It's something good to think about.
The Messianic Jewish faith is growing in popularity in both the US and Israel. There are several with YouTube channels. Look them up. They have an interesting perspective. As a Christian, I believe when the bible calls the Jews God's chosen people. So, I do pay some attention to these guys. This is fair.
Also, to the "but some do" part. They are Messianic Jews. I have no clue how rare/common this is. I could fire up the google machine, but that data isn't important.
I feel fortunate that, in my teens, I was able to listen to a man speak on his path & life as a one. Meeting him after & asking questions opened my mind to a love of history, & more importantly, the power of faith and conviction.
