Little Drummer Boy is a lower-tier Christmas song for me. I get being hard up during the holidays - been there! - but dang if I couldn't scrape up a little something better than a drum solo for The Savior of Man.

Christmas in Dixie is THE only country Christmas song that is good. The rest are trash, except for David Allen Coe.

The first Christmas after my divorce where I didn’t have my kids (we alternate Christmas and Thanksgiving each year), I was pretty down in the dumps and this song came on the radio and I could not stop the 17ing waterworks. I’ve never had such a weird emotional reaction to a random song on the radio. I still get kind of misty when I hear this song.
My mother was the driving force behind our family Christmas traditions. With her gone over a year now, it's all falling apart. We won't even gather this year. If I didn't have one friend to visit I guess I would end up at the Flora Bama potluck. This whole thread is getting to me.

My list of Christmas songs I absolutely can’t stand.

Santa Claus is coming to town - Bruce Springsteen

All the former Beatle Christmas Songs

Milk and Cookies - Clint Black(if you’ve never heard it, do yourself a favor and listen once)

Santa Baby - Madonna - this might be the worst song ever made. It makes my skin crawl.

I’m sure if I thought long enough I could come up with more.
Santa Baby is 2nd on my list.

The Jews of that time expected the messiah to be a warrior king that would come and deliver them from the Romans. That's why most Jewish folks still don't believe Jesus is the Messiah. (But some do.) Actually, I believe she didn't know a lot of those things listed in the song. The first item in the song, for example, did she know He would walk on water? Did she suspect he may be capable of such things? Maybe. But did she know? I don't think so. Regardless... It's something good to think about.
This one is my favorite that's not played much. Also about Mary. Really good.

Agree with you. The only version of the song I can tolerate is the duet of Bing Crosby and David Bowie when they mix it with Peace on Earth. I still think that may be the oddest pairing ever in music history, but somehow it works.

Ya that Bing+Bowie mashup is fantastic,. I believe Bing Crosby passed a month or two after this.

Oh wow...that is now one of my favorites! My all-time favorite is "The Lord Is With You" which is sung during the "Smokey Mountain Christmas" show at Dollywood. It's worth the price of admission! Not sure how 3 people representing Gabriel, Mary, and Joseph singing different lyrics simultaneously can be so moving but it is really incredible.

Just thought of another one that seemed to come out of nowhere a few years ago that I can't stand. I don't ever want a Hippopotamus for Christmas and don't want to hear a song about it

For me it is NOT Christmas until I hear Springsteen tell me Santa Claus is Comin to Town.

And I like Merry Christmas Baby also.
My first job played a rock station during work hours. Between Thanksgiving and Christmas it seemed like this song was played twice an hour every day. I can’t listen to Springsteen at all now.

it’s not Santa Baby I don’t like. It’s specifically the Madonna version.
