Was gerald the one terminated? Was it due to his narcoleptic naps that always made people think he had died?

This is what I heard about a month and a half ago between the owner of Dave's and Gerald.<div>
</div><div>Apparently Dave rented Gerald a place to stay in a little house somewhere in Starkville it may have even been paid for by the owner of Dave's-Dave. Somehow some altercation broke out over unknown to me and Gerald shows up at his house and all his **** is out in the yard and possibly even destroyed because of some construction going on next to the house or maybe the house was demolished and his possessions were destroyed. I was told this over a month ago so my memory is a bit blurred. Why the altercation happened I don't know but the day that happened a friend of mine told me they saw him out at the bar, BIN612 I think where Gerald hangs out alot, and he told some people at the bar what happened and he was basically possessionless. How someone could do this to poor old nice Gerald I do not know.</div>

^-----What an *******. You should be banned for that comment. Gerald is extremely nice and MSU and MSU's students is his life.

But you have to admit, if you see him off campus he either is awake with a Budweiser in hand or passed out with a Budweiser in hand.

Banned? For telling the truth? I like Gerald as much as the next guy, but the statement is spot on.

Don't take it like that. I like Gerald, but non-regulars were often veryworried when he would fall prey to his narcoleptic ways.

The whole reason I asked him to elaborate was that I knew it must've been something serious for him and dave to part ways. He is a starkville icon.

Yeah if you didn't know who he was and hardly ever went out or ppl seeing him for the first time often were a little freaked out. His breath has been awful on several occasions.

To Whom It May Concern,

I had to quit giving Gerald free drinks for photos. His addiction inspired him to work the same deal with my competitors that I originally offered
him. When he did finally show up to take your pictures at the Tavern he
was already wasted from his previous happy hours. All we had left was an
obnoxious racist that was only pleasant when he was passed out at the bar. New customers were constantly offended by him, especially people that had moved to town to work professionally or with MSU.

Anyone that has a business and thinks he would make an asset to it
between 9 and 12 at night, please contact him. He has references from
every other employer that had to let him go. Gerald has made his own bed. I apologize to his
supporters. He left me no choice.
I will make no further comment on the subject. It is my business and I am only concerned about what is best for it.

Please enjoy yourselves,

Dave

Damn, that's harsh. "Obnoxious Racist." "Already Wasted from previous happy hours." Was that really necessary?

The guy has nothing! Why can't he get drunk? And that's totally uncalled for to post that on facebook. If ppl are actually coming up to you at your bar and asking where Gerald is, you can tell them then and keep telling the story. But to post that on facebook is absolutely ridiculous.<div>
</div><div>Definitely should be nominated for the 2011 DDDY.</div>

now, if it were me.....I have enough heart to keep the roof over his head and just give him 90 days and stay away from my business....

I don't mind him not wanting him in his establishment. I'm fine for that. Gerald ended up taking advantage of him but the guy is harmless and has nothing I mean is it really worth exploiting the guy on facebook? That's pretty low especially for a successful business man. I agree I do like Dave's but some major sketch ballz hang out there alot. All I said was nominated btw, never said he should win it. I think a nomination is sufficient for that lengthy Gerald bashing he published on facebook for the entire internet social networking world to view.

Facebook has become a marketing and communication tool for businesses, especially bars, to communicate effectively from the owner directly to the patron. Dave was always extremely professional with me when conducted business during my student years, and I consider him a quality businessman as well as a friend.

What he did was simply debunk all the ******** that was undoubtedly running rampant through all the bar circles, as I've known Gerald since he was a drunk at Flo's in 2001.

Good luck to both of them.

I was under the impression that he (A) rented from the Camp's (no clue if they charged)and (B) they were kicking him out to do some renovations. The place was an absolute disaster; no electricity for one, but there was actually a hole in the side of it that allowed you to see through to a bathtub sunken into the floor. Also, leaving him "possessionless" must have been quite the task. I do not know how he walked around in that place from all the things they took out and had in the yard one day. Nice guy, ****** situation but there's my two cents if anyone knows different they can clarify</p>

I've seen him at Dave's several times and he usually shows up to a buddy of mine's lounge in left field, and he seems to me to just be a burnt-out photographer who for some reason manages to mooch food and beer off of people.

What am I missing?

always liked him, but he can snap

Just a few weeks ago, we had some friends play at the DarkHorse. They're not your typical Southern Jam Band or Dave's type musicians but they are good.

Gerald walked straight up to them while taking down and said, "You guys sucked!" and stumbled away.

Well, ok then.

Flashback to the 90's at Flo and Eddie's -He would so typically pass out at the bar right next to the exit nearly every night. One night, a friend of mine decided to steal his hat as we were leaving while he was narco'd out with his head down. The problem was, he wasn't out. Just drunk. We took off running down Col. Muldrow with Gerald right behind. He came after us with a rambo style buck knife. "I thought we were frunds. I thought we were frunds." We had to tackle him and hold him on the ground and pry that knife from him.

He starts in RF then moves to LF and works back to RF after the game is over...wherever there is someone with food or beer.
He is an interesting guy and I see him everywhere...He was complaining the other day at a baseball game that he couldn't get on facebook at the public library because it is blocked..same with myspace.

paying Camp. Mcgovern stopped. Camp evicted Gerald. Dave had nothing to do with it. Ive know gerald for 30 years. He is a good soul, but he 17'd up. Dave is protecting his business. He has every rigfht to do so. I would do the same thing.

Or, is that just a nice way of calling the guy a drunk? It seems like most folks like him, and he looks like a hill billy - that's kind of cool. But, he sounds like a barely functioning alcoholic.

He is ALWAYS and i mean ALWAS drunk. Super nice guy, but from the stories I've been told he was fired from State, basically because of his drinking problems and a copious amount of DUIs (barely stayed out of state prison). Now it has gotten him into more trouble. And i agree with the guy about it would be extremely difficult for him to lose his possessions. He has a ton of junk. However, I do love the guy, and Dave's wont be the same without him.

Dont think Dave had anything to do with the eviction.

Dave needs to take the high road though. Even if thats simply sending Gerald a private message, rather than posting it on his wall. Calling something obnoxious, racist, drunk, whatever isn't going to make you (or Dave's) look any better.

Although I am very tempted to "like" that post..

I'm sure I will be berated by someone for this, but 2 people I remember from my time 94-99, were Oogity Boogity and the skinny black guy who talked to newspaper stands and pay phone's(have no idea what his name was).

And for those of you in a fraternity, what about Shoe Shine? 8 a.m. yelling, "shoe shine! shoe shine man on duty!"</p>

hahaha

Oogity Boogity and the skinny dude that talks to himself are still around. Bernard Shine died. He didn't like the KA's.

Saw both this week. The skinny dude had ona g.i. joe outfit in a store by my house, walking around talking to himself about being in the war and promoted to general or some **** like that.

there was also that Major Payne looking dude that worked at Sack-n-Save. "PAPER OR PLASTIC!!!@!!!" "YES SIR. YOU HAVE A GOOD DAY."

edit to add: I think I saw the skinny dude on that main corner going on to campus from hwy 12 where Burger King was. He was bent over and appeared to be cranking an air gas mower. And it wouldn't crank.
