I'd love to hear what your top 5 places to eat in your hometown are. I always like hearing about a local greasy spoon tucked away some place.

Waynesboro, MS
1.Mississippi Fried Chicken...great chicken strips and fries, ask for the home-made honey mustard or house sauce
2.Cooley's Hamburgers...best burgers ever, but call your order in 30 minutes ahead of time or you will have to wait a while
3.Poppa Arts...best fries ever and the burgers are fantastic
4.Jordan's Fish Camp...great fried catfish and col slaw
5.Boondock Eddie's...steaks,burgers,chicken,shrimp, and catfish

I thought Louisiana took over? Or did I make that up? Maybe I'm thinking Mexico became the fattest country.

Well, my hometown is non-municipal Rankin county

So I guess it used to be Fannin mart until they moved. But the food at the old joint was amazing.

For the record, Ive eaten at 3 of those he mentioned and theyre all great. Ive even eaten at "the round table", if that place is still around.

Round Table is actually a church now. Waynesboro just voted to come out of Wayne County's dry law this past week, so I expect a few good new restaurants to go in some time in the near future. In just the past year we got a Japanese hibachi restaurant, Fresh Market Grill, and a sports grill. Supposed to be getting a new mexican restaurant within the year as well. We are adding some variety slowly but surely.

We even just built this to expand our high school stadium to 8000.

Pavlov is ringing his bell. I can defend any of these choices on a Friday evening

1) Taco Pizza. Do stand-alone PIs still exist?
2) Onion rings
3) Midnight. Period.
4) Gizzards
5) Chicken tenders and Curly fries

Not many non chains in Southaven. Best I can come up with.

Memphis Barbecue Company. For something out of the ordinary try the Memphis Peacemaker.

Boiling Point. Great crawfish. Not listed on the menu is pan fried trout topped with étouffée. Make sure to ask for the mixed hot sauce on the side.

Lonnie Tants. Not saying it's the best pizzeria ever, but it's only about a mile from my house. I've tried to get Lonnie to expand his beer selection with no luck. At least he has SOS.

Dale's. I don't eat there often but it's your typical southern fried foods. Always packed.

Interstate Barbecue. I prefer the original location in Memphis though.

Gus' Fried Chicken has a spot in Southaven too doesn't it? Obviously not your typical date night dine in place or anything but it is some of the best chicken around.

Senatobia has nothing worth mentioning. For some awful reason there are 2 mexican restaurants and neither is particularly good. I guess for lunch Penny's Pantry is good. In high school, my fiancee and I always drove up to Southaven on the weekends to eat. Sadly the one place there that I wish we had here is a Steak n Shake. We love the chili and fries from there.

Lady Bug Bakery
Colemans BBQ
Cafe 51
Taco Felix (killer breakfast)

Avellino's and Wadfords Bar and Grill would be on mine from Southaven.

Shrimp Cancun at Wadfords might be one of the best things I've eaten in a long time.

Gus's didn't last long in Southaven. Whoever was managing that location did a poor job. Steak and Shake has a decent breakfast. On a Saturday morning it's usually the easiest to get in and out.

Forgot about Avellino's. I usually choose Lonnie Tant's over it is why I forgot. Haven't tried Wadfords yet. Never remember it when we're trying to think of a different place to eat.

Gus" is coming back. Going to go where Abners used to be.

It was in a terrible location before. That shopping center is like no mans land. You can't get to it because of the traffic.

Just last night I told my wife they were gutting the place and wondered what they were putting there. Gus's that close to my house will be deadly.

Any idea what's going where Smokey Bones used to be?

I couldn't speak to all of Austin because I haven't been to them all, and there are a lot of places here that I have been told to try.

My favorites are

1. Huts Hamburgers
2. Midori Sushi
3. Flores Mexican
4. Truluck's Seafood and Steakhouse
5. Bamboo Asian Grille

I have not made it into the line at Franklin's yet but will.

I actually eat at Walkers dairy bar on a regular basis. Love Corn dog 7, although I have a hard time convincing anyone else to go there with me. I hear the Loft in Laurel is pretty good.

Not sure I have 5 favorites here in Meridian. But if I were forced to submit a list...........

1) Dobis - A Cajun bar & grill
2) Weidmans - Not as good as the old version though
3) Rustler Steak House - Great steaks but pricey
4) News - A greasy spoon type of place
5) El Norte - Mexican food
