I haven't seen any discussion about it today. Did anyone else see the 2nd episode? I thought it was good and picked up the pace a little from the 1st episode. The slow pace is definitely like The Wire.

It sucks that Slim Charles made an appearance by a character that I don't see making another appearance, though.

Edited because I can't spell...

I am definitely a little more enthused about the show after the 2nd episode as compared to the 1st. I still haven't figured out if it is just going to follow the various characters as they pick up the pieces after the hurricane or if there will actually be a significant plot-line conflict/development. I still have zero idea where this show is going. It looks like its going to be a series of different character studies with very loose ties between the characters.

Have any of the main characters (that weren't introduced together) crossed paths yet?

Random tangent: I thought that Coco Robicheaux scene at the beginning in the radio studio was excellent

After watching the first two episodes I decided to record the rest of the season. I'm a huge fan of the meters, galactic, I grew up listening to kermit with my parents, plus I have family in New Orleans- so maybe those are some reasons why I enjoy it so much.<div>
</div><div>But even without all of that the show makes me feel like a "fly on the wall" in the aftermath of Katrina. I know that for those that went through it may seem to be a gross distortion of what actually happened, but for a show I think it gets pretty close to how it was 3 months after (for different groups of people going back to rebuild). If nothing else the writing is excellent- dialogue and characters just seem really natural and don't have much of the fake southern/New Orleans accent hollywood tends to screw up.</div><div>
</div><div>For the music and authentic feeling "cross-section" of that time in New Orleans, I'll continue to watch it.</div>

Zahn's character has run into a few of the other musicians. His girlfriend has served John Goodman and his wife at her restaurant. The radio station scene was pretty funny.

I'm wondering where they're going to take this, too. According to this link, they now have a 2nd season to get wherever they're heading.

I think the characters and dialogue were what made The Wire great, along with the setting. Treme has the potential to be strong in those areas, too.
