I have a centipede lawn in the panhadle of FL. When we moved into the house last Nov. We had a ton of henbit, what can I do to stop it and keep the lawn healthy? PH is @ 7.5

Henbit is pretty easy to take care of if its what I'm thinking of. Fertilome weed free zone should knock it out.

You need to lower your pH to about 5.5, probably with aluminum sulfate. Its a big change, it may take some time to make that big of a change. For henbit and many other winter weeds, I would recomend a good pre-emergent herbicide program offered by a reputable lawn care service. Henbit is easier to prevent than to control with post applied herbicides. Good Luck!

I would also add your pH is a little alkaline but not to much for bermudagrass!Better choice of grass! I really don't like centipede because of its color, disease susceptiblity, and just generally looks like crap even on its best day! Can't cut it like a golf course! Again I say Good Luck!
