Musk didn’t even found Tesla. He bought his way in and forced the founders out. Just like any other venture capitalist in Silicon Valley who smells blood.

And Musk is not Tony Stark sitting in a cave with a box of scraps! He just is smart enough to hire intelligent engineers who can bring some of his ideas to life. Steve Jobs was the same way.

The difference is Steve Jobs didn’t claim he created the iPhone, the IPad or the Apple computer and didn’t have this cult of personality around him that Musk seems to have.

Good businessman for the most part, really good at selling others ideas as his own, ****** human being.

But I’m always going to be of the opinion that no one person should have that much wealth, power and influence. It’s bad for democracy. Warren Buffet, Bill Gates, Jeff Bezos, George Soros…whoever. Way too much concentrated at the top.
"I'm not the smartest person in the room, but the smartest person in the room works for me"

Just like George Washington was a soldier that fought some battles.

Michael Jordan was an athlete that played some games.

Marie Curie was a nurse that provided some medicine.

Julian Vanwinkle was a bootlegger that distilled some booze.

Adolph Rupp was a coach that won a few games.

Mother Theresa was a nun that helped some kids.

Barrack Obama was a politician that won an election.

John Lennon was a musician that wrote some songs...

Time will tell won’t it.

Still the richest person in the world. My link was to a real-time tracker.

You're like a 3 year old. Think you know everything, but can't comprehend simple comments

Back at you bro. Half his value lost would seem to indicate he is capable of making some bad decisions.

It was an awful platform where people just slang insults at each other all day
Why do you come here then? Practically every thread devolves into people arguing and insulting people over **** that doesn't matter.

I see more arguing and insulting on here every day just by looking at one thread than I do in a whole day's worth of browsing my Twitter feed. And that's not even counting the nearly 14,000 page political thread that is every bit as bad of a cesspool of uncivilized behavior (from both ends of the political spectrum, I might add!) as any other legal gathering place on the internet.

When I was a kid there was an old timer. Had one eye. Tobacco farmer. Drove a beat up pickup truck that always had a mangy dog tied to the bed of it when he’d show up to drink his coffee at the store in the morning with the rest of the old timers. Didn’t trust banks and when he died he probably had buried 300k in his backyard in mason jars. They never did find it all and his greedy *** relatives dug that place up looking for it.

That’s the kind of businessman I can appreciate.

Musk may probably go out like Howard Hughes. Living in a hotel eating crackers.

I can see him getting some terminal illness and riding rocket skates head on into a semi.

Rich, but erratic AF.

Guy is funny. He 100% of the time snarks at anything Conservative and at the same time says he's not partisan. "Who me??"

LOL! Pathetic.

Only if you sell... I bought stock at $10 that went to $5. I didn't lose $5. I kept the stock for a year and sold at $15 and profited $5. He hasn't lost anything 'yet' except the daily operating losses.

His has only lost value. It may go back up but in the case of Twitter most smart economists I’ve read seem to doubt it has any ability to ever generate enough revenue to recoup the losses much less double the value.

Tesla went down because the entire tech sector is getting crushed. Look at Amazon and Facebook. Under your thinking Bezon and Zuckerberg are morons.

Teslas stock price was directly impacted by the Twitter deal. And a lot of people are questioning Zuckerbergs all in approach to the Metaverse so again time will tell. I don’t think they’re morons. I think they’re humans which makes them vulnerable to making bad decisions just like any of us are.

Nope. Your net worth isn’t based on historical cost.
Net worth is opinion anyway. It's not a loss until he sells it or shuts it down for a loss. People look at net worth too much now a days and not income. It's one of the things I used to question about Elon because Tesla didn't start making money until about 5 years ago. It was running on invested money. It was the same with his rockets... it was just burning cash. Now both those are actually making money. At any point public sentiment could of turned against them and dropped the value but as long as he had enough cash to operate until he started making a profit then it doesn't matter.

He isn't a day trader.

It went down slightly on the deal but it went down further with the entire tech sector. There is a reason dozens of tech co's are doing layoffs right now.

So you appreciate a businessman who makes money and never does anything with it only for it to be lost for all of human civilization instead of doing something productive, constructive, or beneficial with it? ANd the family is there greedy one?

I would just look at the whole year of Tesla stock price and compare that to tech in general.

Net worth is opinion insomuch as value is opinion. There are prescribed methods for preparing a personal financial statement. The only way its “not a loss because he hasn’t sold it” is for tax purposes which is completely irrelevant to the discussion.

All I know is this world would not work if not for people like Musk who have the brains, guts and work ethic to make things that gives people jobs that supports their families and communities. Accumulates more wealth than all of us combined will make in our lifetimes and yet he did not take the money and run but just works harder.
