They have several kids I wish Nebraska would have tried to get as walkons. They give out partial scholarships. I think the huskers are missing out on some good players.

How do you know they didn't? Names?
I work with a guy who has a son that was first team all state who ended up going to Kearney and getting 3000 a year scholarship. He turned down one other Division 2 school and several smaller schools offers of a full ride with the exception of room and board. He actually took probably the smallest of the scholarships offered but wanted to play at Kearney with his friends and where his dad played at. I just think maybe 8 or 10 of those players the huskers should have gotten as walkons. The talent in Nebraska is very underrated IMHO.

If your friend gave you the list of offers and didnt name a walk on offer from the Huskers then what does that say? Nebraska is not a hot-bed of D1 football talent. Apparently others including yourself know more than the D1 coaches. True there are always examples of the kids who end up playing at the D1 level who were not widely recruited but those are not the norm.

Husker coaches are doing just fine. Let's face it, there just isn't a large number of D1 talent in this state. Our coaches will identify and get those they want.

I agree I think too many Nebraska kids are allowed to go to another D1 school where they play on a scholarship and have a good careers. Nebraska does have kids who can play at the D1 level.

I agree submachine, look at Iowa, N.D., Kansas schools, the Dakota schools, Frankie's teams in Ohio & more. I guess taking kids from more competitive environments is the safer bet but I also feel the heart, soul & work ethic of the Nebraska kids just can't be.over.looked. They have been our foundation on some of our most successful teams since the very beginning. T.O. realized it but others like to look "in greener fields". There is some good talent brewing in the state in the near future & hope they can keep most of the quality kids home. It will make a big difference & I'm sure the coaches realize this. They had better anyway. GBR
