I am headed to TSUN for the game and I have a few guys who have never been before going with me. Where should we eat before the game?

Boure is also pretty good for around the same price. If you want to go nicer, City Grocery. <div>

</div><div>ETA Big Easy description: it is like a hamburger but with country fried steak instead of beef patty. On top of the steak but still inbetween the buns are mashed potatoes with gravy and butter beans. Might sound odd, but the textures and flavors meld to make it something mighty to behold.</div>

Ajax for lower price, Boure for moderate price. Ate at both when my tennis team was up there in September and they were excellent.</p>

if you're gonna eat there right before the game. It's fantastic, but you usually need a nap and a **** before you can go about the rest of your day.

Boure' is consistently good, no matter how crowded it gets. I usually get the fried pork tenderloin sammich, which really isn't as heavy as it sounds.

Proud Larry's is usually very efficient and has good food. I recommend the philly cheesesteak. Very underrated and they have a lot of tvs.

There is a Soulshine, which should be familiar if you're from the Jackson/Madison county area. Pizzas 'n ****.

Snackbar is the best restaurant in town. Badass food. Apalachicola oysters on the half shell.

Abner's sucks. Don't even think about going there.

Keep it classy Oxford.

(I kid, sort of. Who the hell approved that? I'm sure Howorth didn't let that slip through)

Ajax is not what it is made out to be. I've never been really impressed. I've lived in this town for two years and the best places to eat are Oby's and Boure'. The shrimp and grits at Boure' may be the best meal I've eaten anywhere in Mississippi, but it's not cheap at around $26.00.

The Square itself is very over-rated. If you want to get off the square, try The Shak. It's a barbecue place on Hwy 6, really good barbecue nachos. Also, one of The Shak's owners is a Bulldog.

South Depot is not bad for what it is. Unfortunately it just ain't much.

Be wary of Soulshine. The menu price may not necessarilly be the price that shows up on your receipt. We stopped eating there after the third time that happened.

Food, bad. Bar downstairs, not bad. I love Lenora's and Boure. I would stay away from City Grocery. It's the most expensive and it's not as good as the other two to me. But everyone loves it.

Ajax and Boure are my favorite spots. It's a shame that Downtown Grill closed...their grouper and bread pudding was killer. 208 is terrible. Proud Larry's is a cool sports bar with good burgers and philly. Soulshine and Old Venice are just meh. Ribcage is only good for cheap pitchers and the bbq plate. City Grocery is just overpriced. Emileighs is an awesome lunch joint. I still need to try Lenora's...heard nothing but good things about it.

The city council very much did not want them to build it there, but they didn't have an ordinances/laws in place to legally stop them. Thus, we now have somewhere for Bama fans to eat when they decide to hit the square.

...or better. Nothing wrong with Oby's, mind you, you can just get a better meal any number of other places.

The meatloaf, mash-taters and cornbread is hard to beat.Mr. B's/gasstationon Lamar ( if it's still called that) used to have great pulled pork and ribsbut it's been at least five years since I've eaten there.
