And people who want to use shopping there as a status symbol.
Although I do like eating there. Besides that, I'll stick with Kroger and Harris Teeter.

Kroger and Harris Teeter are quality stores.<div>

They're already working on a TJ Maxx, and apparently Whole Foods is looking at adding on to the same shopping center or at least near it.

I'm kind of anxious to see one, but I have to give Kroger credit. They've come a long way with their healthy foods. They may not have near the selection of some of these other guys, but there isn't much you can't find there anymore.

All that said, I don't know. I just don't think the demand will be there for a Whole Foods in OB. I'll put it this way... Any time that I'm in Kroger and I'm in the Organic or Whole Grain sections, I'm the only one there.

When I lived in New Orleans I would shop at Whole Foods for meat, seafood, and specialty items. They also have a killer soup, salad and prepared foods bar.
They make some great chicken sausages and their seafood will surely run poor Paul Anthony's out of business. Fresh mussels, clams, crabs, salmon, etc...
Think Fresh Market on steroids, they are that good at Whole Foods, and also a great company to work for.
I am worried about Mcdades though, I already buy my steaks from the butcher there instead of Paul Anthony's, just $22.99 per pound for a choice filet.

McDade's will take somewhat of a hit, but most people aren't going to buy milk and bread at Whole Foods. Paul Anthony's won't make it, but its their own fault. They need to step their game up as it is. They don't even "butcher" anything there - just get in pacakges of pre-butchered meat and sell them. The cheese selection is weak. The other food there is weak. The only thing going for them is the lunch, which is decent.

Paul Anthony's sucks. The ******** disclaimer about not being responsible for fish when it leaves is horse ****. "If you get home and your fish smells like rotten poon tang, dont bring it back..."

but up here, they're making some VERY nice changes and updating the stores. I think HT and Publix (another fav) are taking some of their business.
I am disappointed with the Trader Joe's here, but it's not their fault. It's the state's for not allowing their Two Buck Chuck to be sold. Oh well.
MS has their alcohol problems and so does TN...

,then take more space tocreate an unloading doc for 18 wheelers etc. etc. etc......then triple the demand for parkingthat parking lot and those already-busy streets around that place will be awful. If I had a business in Highland Village and depended on that east side parking lot for my customers....I`d beworried right about now. Paul Anthony`s may not be the only one to suffer. If you`re in the area just look for yourself....it`s gonna get crowded.

All the Schnuks in memphis were bought at by Kroger right? There is no way Kroger doesn't have restrictions on what can go in that space. It would be great to get other grocery options in the area and all, but I can't believe they would go in that space.

I can assure that if you got home and something was wrong with your fish, Paul would make it right. That disclaimer is up there for insurance purposes. That signis up there for people who come up there in the middle of the summer, buy fish, and drive around town for 5 more hours running errands before going home. If you go home and get sick because of this, this is his way of saying you were forewarned, and you can't come back and sue him for selling you bad fish which was not really bad.

Paul is a former banker who left banking to pursue a lifelong dream in the food industry. He knowsthe importance ofcustomer service. Yea, his prices are high. But it's the quality of the meat that you are paying for. Sure you can get cheaper at Kroger, and if that's what you want to do, fine.

We have gotten rank *** fish there multiple times, called to complain and no one did ****.
That place sucks. Steaks are average, but the seafood leaves alot to be desired. Haven't beenin there in a few years and will never go back.

I'm not the only one that has had that exact same experience there.

Thanks for the PSA on insurance though.

Yea, prices are high. But it's the quality of the meat that you are paying for.

They will provide a place to get fish, meat, veggies, fruit and more at a margin almost twice that of other grocery stores. I don't disagree that their quality is top shelf, but the convenience of all quality items in one place will surely dominate the area.

The one and only time I have bought anything from there was fish, cannot remember what kind. Picked it up on the way home from work and drove straight to the house. Fired up the grill and unpacked the fish, it smelled like rotten ***.

I called and they told me to bring it back by the next day. I did and was told by 2 employees up there that they could not do anything about it because they could not guarantee that I had properly cared for the fish once purchasing it.

I don't know Paul from a hole in the ground but I know customer service, and I was sold rotten **** and told to basically 17 off.

I don't know if Paul is a friend or family to you and he is probably a fantastic guy, but he lost a customer that day.

but the meat I have purchased from there has been outstanding every time. And his plate lunches are pretty damn good.

the food is really good and most of the time one of his lunches would feed two people.
