OT: Windows 10... Anyone? Anyone?

I've updated both desktop and laptop - no issues. Seems to be very stable. The one thing I do not like is that it automatically downloads and installs updates. But other than that, I like it. I'm a techie though.
After upgrading to 10 on one of my laptops, I was not able to get on Facebook, Twitter and YouTube (Only Bing - I wonder why :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye
. I uninstalled the virus software (Avast) and was able to get on those sites, but then my kid reported YouTube had more restricted videos than usual. Went back to Win 8. If you got a fix, please post. Support sites seem to have a bunch of solutions that don't seem to work.

I upgraded from Windows 7 on a 4 year old non-touch screen laptop. No issues. Honestly, when run in Desktop mode, it looks and feels much like Windows 7 did to me. I haven't really bothered to try it much in Tablet mode due to my configuration. I see no reason not to upgrade.
I upgraded my laptop last weekend, it went smoothly and I haven't had any problems.
It still resembles W8.1 a lttle bit..
Armor: I do not know your exact situation, but you may be running afoul of settings in W10. They seem like they may be security and "family protection" problems. As I remember it, when I installed it I turned off most or all of the Microsoft "recommended" settings in those areas, as well as turning off the sending of information to them about what is on my computer and what I do with it. They should have stopped at Windows 7. I will upgrade to 10 when you do. I get the popups as well.
We had a thread on this when it came out. Maybe you can check history and see the comments. Been using it since then.. its fine. But you may run into some issues.. like the new default browser EDGE vs IE. And you cannot do a clean install without first doing an upgrade.. the Win10 key needs to be activated via the upgrade process. THEN you can use a USB stick to do a clean install on same machine.
Updated from 8 on launch day. Have had no problems. More or less just works. I've disabled a lot of their features though, like the automatic downloading of the updates. Use chrome, tweetdeck, youtube, etc.. without any problems

I upgraded from Windows 7 to 10, and it crashed my computer. It eventually reverted back to Windows 7, so I just left it.
Another oddity.. it seems Win10's "print to pdf" feature is messing up some other programs with PDF output.. like Nitro 10, Corel X7... the print spooler hangs.. so you are pretty much stuck using the microsoft print to PDF feature. Haven't had time to work on this issue outside of that work-around.

If you are currently running Windows 7, Microsoft is no longer adding new features and will stop support in 5 years. Of course if you are happy with W7 and you aren't interested in adding potential new features and you expect to replace your PC within 5 years, then there is probably no reason to upgrade.
If you run Windows 8/8.1 then the new version supposedly fixes a lot of what people didn't like about W8.

have a dual boot iMac and upgraded from 7 to 10. I keep getting bad_pool_error on boot and keep rebooting, couldn't create a recovery disk, my drivers were all up to date. Crapshoot odds at best if I boot up on the Windows side. Of course, you need to actually boot from a recovery disk to try and resolve the problems, so I'm a little screwed.

This is the route I'll probably take. The fact that the upgrade is free really intrigued me, so I thought I'd see what the you guys thought. I'm the same way. If it ain't broke...
I like to do a quick cost/benefit analysis. Once the freezes and crashes start costing me more time than upgrading (not just the OS, but third party software and drivers too), OR the one year window starts to close, I'll make it happen... whichever comes first.
Better than Windows 8, and I suppose I say that because I don't have a touchscreen and like its similarity to Win 7.
It didn't work with my existing Norton security suite which was annoying.

This. The only other problems that I have with it or the fact that it sends information back to Microsoft and my rather expensive Rosetta Stone program run on Windows 10. Other than that, it seems more stable and faster than Windows 7.
