I am a technology idiot.

I cannot get a laptop to work our wireless network at home. Here is what I can tell you.

- iPad and iPhone work fine on the wireless network.
- I can connect an ethernet cable from wireless router into laptop and everything works fine.
- The laptop (Windows 8) is picking up the wireless signal and I an certain I have the correct network key.
- I cannot get any of my browsers (Internet Explorer or Chrome) to pull up a webpage.
- Diagnostics can find no problems.

Anyone got an idea what the problem could be?

All I can tell you is that Windows-based devices have a "radio switch" to turn on when a wireless signal is desired. See if it has a radio switch and if so, turn it on. It should be on the bottom

Also, I don't know how old of a laptop you're talking about, but if it's an older laptop, it may not support WPA2 wireless encryption. See what your encryption on your wireless router is set to (WEP WPA, WPA2), and if it's WPA2, take it down to WPA, or even WEP (warning, can be cracked fairly easily). And see if you can connect to it, then.

If it's a Vista or Win7 machine, delete that wireless profile in Control Panel > Network and Internet > Network and Sharing Center > Manage Wireless Networks (on the left column of the page). Then try reconnecting to it.
