Let's face it, where you go in the draft is the most important thing your college career can determine, and that is where most of the money is for NFL hopefuls. Go in the first round and you can retire off your signing bonus if you don't go all MC Hammer with your money. Go in the late rounds and you better have your resume in order and hope your degree in General Studies is worth something. I know most of you know this stuff already, but I put it in a convenient form since all recruits read message boards. So where have OU quarterbacks gone in the draft? I'll list their QBs along with their college record and draft status.

Josh Heupel (20-5) - 6th round
Nate Hybl (20-3) - Undrafted
Jason White (27-4) - Undrafted
Rhett Bomar (8-3) - 5th round
Paul Thompson (11-4) - Undrafted

Now Mullen has not been corch here very long and Tyson Lee won't get drafted by an intramural team, but here's a look at QBs in which Mullen has had a huge part of developing.

Josh Harris - 6th round
Alex Smith (21-1) - 1st overall
Chris Leak - Undrafted
Tim Tebow - Who knows?

So on average, Mullen has better performance than Stoops. Keep in mind that Harris was at Bowling Green, not exactly known for football prowess. Tebow will probably go in round 3, but some team may pick him up earlier than that.

Tebow's college career is all over but one game. Bradford was injured for most of the season and may want another season to improve draft position. Clausen entering the draft has bumped Bradford down if he were to enter early and I haven't seen much press on Bradford entering this year.

to announce at signing day something like this:

I was set to sign with Oklahoma, then the night before signing day, I was researching how Oklahoma and Bob Stoops prepare QB's for the NFL and I came across a post by a Upthemiddle something, and it was quite informative. After reading his post, I realized that MSU and Dan Mullen and not Oklahoma, was the place for me to go to develop my talents and prepare myself for the NFL. So based on that post, I am signing with MSU.

Just once I want something like this to happen. Of course I would pay $100 for a top 5 in the nation type basketball recruit to announce on signing day:

I was set to sign with MSU, but after reading several and I mean several posts by Coach34, I realized that Stansbury is not a good coach, just look at his results at the tournament, and his offensive sets are terrible. He convinced me that signing with MSU would be a waste of my talents, and I will sign with the University of Arkansas and John Pelphrey.

The recruits only read Genespage. Besides, I'm still waiting for my recognition from the athletic department for suggesting season tickets as Christmas presents.

i think the worldwide leader has bradford at #11 of their top 36 (or some number like that) draft prospects for this year. If you are going to list an undrafted prospect for one you shouldn't leave out an even better undrafted prospect for the other. I don't really care either way, I only posted cause it was a glaring detail that you left out.

In regards to jason white, no NFL team would touch Jason White with a 40 ft. pole and he went undrafted. I take that to mean he was a very subpar QB. But Stoops took that same QB to a heisman trophy (and a finalist the next year) and two straight davey o'brien awards. I think that would poke a pretty serious hole in your argument about Stoops not being able to coach up QBs.

I know you are focusing on draftees but I think this is some significant info you are leaving out. If Stoops can take a sack of **** QB like White to those aforementioned awards then I think we need to focus our arguments to things like playing time and not QB coaching.

Believe or not I am on your side, but I just like disagree with people.

looking at OU's OC (or do you want to give Stoops credit for Weurffel)? Kevin Wilson probably coached some good qb's at Miami and Northwestern. The biggest argument should be that OU's blue chip qb will be a r/s sophmore next year w/ playing time under his belt and MSU's will only be a r/s freshman w/ no playing time. Plus OU has another blue chip committed right now while State does not.
