That was terrible. Terrible for the kid and his teammates that have to see that and try to continue playing.

See a lot of people on twitter speculating that perhaps the raised court may have played a part in how Ware decided to brace himself... Don't know if that's the case here, but I've always thought those things were an accident waiting to happen.

He had plenty of room and didn't seem to be aware of the edge. He probably already had some kind of hairline fracture and landed at that perfect angle. I was amazed at how relatively calm he appeared. If I saw my bone sticking out of my skin and the bottom half just dangling, I'd probably have a panic attack if I didn't pass out before it.

Correct. Had to be a pathologic fracture.

Tibias don't break like that for no reason. Something was already wrong with it before.
