Oh my gosh! It just doesn’t matter Puckett is what we have because the other 2 obviously SUCK! If KT cannot run he will be a sitting duck waiting for something really bad to happen. Play the kid, take our chances, and live with KT healing up another week. Oklahoma’s offense is not good. But their defense is SEC level and With a healthy ish KT, with 70% mobility, State can beat them. This team has a chance to finish with 8 wins. Don’t end up 5-7 by playing a hurt QB and getting him hurt worse!

And then prove your damn worth Lebby by ditching everybody but KT and Puckett and go spend money on a potential Starter who can compete with KT next year! The worst QB evaluation I’ve ever seen for us in the position. Please don’t give Lebby credit for Finding Kamario Taylor. Taylor came to State the signing class after 2-10 for gosh sakes!

He gives me Mike Henig vibes.

I hope he turns out to be the next Tom Brady, though...seems a long shot.
Henig was a runt when he got to campus. God love him because he took a beating for the Bulldogs and kept giving it his all. Puckett looks bigger, tougher, and more capable by a long shot to me. I trust Lebby on Qb’s, but I’m not expecting Puckett to be on the level of any starter. Let’s hope he’s serviceable and can rally the team.

I wasn't comparing the two, physically, so much. However, since you brought that up, they are pretty similar there (both around 6' and 180lbs).

I was more so saying that neither was/is/should be a QB in the SEC. I don't distrust Lebby on QB decisions, but you have to admit, where we're at right now is concerning.

The important thing to keep in mind is we have 7 games left. If we were 100% healthy every game is winnable. We need to get 5 of those games. Without Fluff and K1 we are not very likely to get that.

Call me crazy, but I don't think the environment will be a huge issue. 11 am in baton rouge after they just lost to KY, and no time to tailgate and cook gumbo and corndogs? It will not be well attended is my guess.
Won't be the hyped normal atmosphere that is spun about that stadium nor anywhere near full capacity if that makes a difference. Don't know if that will affect the final score.

I am a child of the Croom era, and also lived through 2023 with Mike Wright starting half our games….

Show me your worst, Billy Pisgah. Nowhere to go but up.

(I hope your foot is feeling better today, Kamario).

Wow. I had blocked out the 2023 season and the Mike Wright football we played. Thanks for the memories :/

I think Henig was a fake 6'. Is Puckett a real 6'?

WOW......you know, Lebby has really kind of done a good job showing us this year he can do it. He has put a roster together, and they have performed and here we are with some injuries......and our #2 is a white academy boy and all of a sudden the damn sky is falling and we are talking about hexing fur boy comparisons

Heaven forbid we have had players at academies being recruited and going to top tier D1 schools! the environment is different these days.

Frankly, would not surprise me at all to see Puckett step on the field saturday and prove serviceable as the #2. Throws a great ball, has accuracy, worked his way up, ran a similar offense in high school.

The key to me, if he is serviceable as the #2, and he is called on due to KT1 injury, is we have to establish our run game.

I see it best to have confidence Puckett can do the job and keep us in the game, until he proves otherwise......but I think (IMO) he can do the job

** we have made it to 4-1....let's give Lebby and crew some credit and some confidence

Is it written in stone that Puckett is our #2? The game was completely out of reach by the time he came in, wasn’t it? If so, it wouldn’t be crazy to bring in a lower string QB to retain the health (and possible anonymity) of your #2. Plus, the kids family is rich…. Does not hurt.

I have to agree with Hadad. No offense to the young man but the fact that a MAIS walk-on is our QB2 is a huge failure for our coaching staff.

He was and is #2 on the depth chart.

To be clear, he wore #7.

6 is the number of ints he threw against LSU in one single game to open the 2007 season. He finished the season 1TD 9INTs.

True Freshman Wesley Carroll took the starting job. From what I've heard, he would often audible into a zone read and led us to our first bowl game since 2000: a 10-7 boatrace win against UCF.

Carroll's success meant he would be relegated to backup duty in our season opener the next season: a devestating loss at Louisiana Tech. Tyson Lee was just too good to keep on the bench. The talent development and coaching acumen of Woody McCorvey and Sylvester Croom cannot be understated, it was a special thing to witness.

Wesley Caroll was a hero for telling the coaches, hold my beer while I call my own plays. It was amazing to watch and it worked. We should have fired Croom and McCorvey and hired Wesley.

It really is a shame what has happened to us this year, and really looking back the last ten years. With Kamario and Fluff, you have a chance to win every game going forward. Without them you’re staring 7-4 in the face. LSU and Texas are very winnable games with KT and Fluff. Without them we likely drop four of our remaining games. Drink up boys. We are Mississippi State.

When you start writing losses off to keep your best player healthy, it’s over.

I have not seen this per AI: Last line is key to me but I do believe they will protect him if warranted. They damn well better but if they decide to play him, then it was a decision made more informed than my perspective as I have no idea how bad KT injury is. as a fan, I am just an interested observer.

Recovery Time by Grade
  • Grade 1 (Mild stretch): Heals in 1 to 2 weeks with rest, ice, anti-inflammatory medications (NSAIDs), and stiff-soled shoes or taping.
  • Grade 2 (Partial tear): Takes 2 to 6 weeks to heal; it often requires a walking boot, crutches, or a rigid shoe insert.
  • Grade 3 (Full tear or fracture): Takes 6 to 12 weeks or several months, and may require casting or surgery. [1, 2, 3]

Key Treatment Steps
  • Stop the bending: Prevent the big toe from flexing upward using a rigid-soled shoe, a carbon-fiber insert, or an orthopedic walking boot. [1, 2]
  • RICE protocol: Rest the foot, apply ice, use compression, and elevate the leg to manage swelling. [1, 2]
  • Taping: Buddy-tape the big toe or use athletic tape to restrict excessive range of motion when you start moving again. [1, 2]
  • Avoid early return: Pushing off or returning to high-impact activity before the tissue heals can turn a short-term sprain into a chronic, long-lasting issue with stiffness and arthritis. [1, 2]
