Our Compliance Department Should Be Ashamed of Themselves

The Will Redmond situation was an epic fail of epic proportions. Bracky... you suck dick at your job and should resign. Scott..... you suck dick at not putting your foot down and letting this happen. There is NO reason that I will support another season of Bracky Brett and no reason anybody that reads this should. Scott's done a hell of a job at MSU but he has dropped the ball on this. \

I don't know what's going to do it, but calls and e-mails are a good way to start. We need to demand this.

Also, this is above Stricklin's pay grade. He has no power over our compliance dept. That falls on Keenum's desk...

I've been telling you that for two years. Firing Bracky Britt will not turn us into UK basketball or Auburn Football.

If you want to debate the suspensions, I'll agree on that. It does appear we get **** on in that regard. I'm guessing the NCAA views getting stuff from boosters as recruits as worse than selling merchandise. Which makes no f*cking sense at all. The older, more mature players SHOULD be held to a higher standard than a recruit.

I think the point is not making a change so we can cheat more...

The point is that we need a change because in 3 instances (Sidney and Redmond, most notably), we hurt ourselves badly in those instances because we are being told to "share everything we know" with the NCAA. Both cases, players were suspended and lost eligibility for a year and a half. Instead of fighting the NCAA, we've chosen the route of turning ourselves in. We only hurt ourselves doing that... the precedent set with Cam, JFF, even AJ and Pryor is to deny what you know... leave a trail of doubt and never admit to anything.

I'm not necessarily on the "fire Bracky" bandwagon, but I now see why we need a change in strategy in that department. We simply cannot compete if we tell what we know, because we get hammered harder than if we deny we did anything wrong. It's the way the game is played now.

Where did anyone say it would turn us into a national power? You are jumping through hoops on this.

Firing my mechanic from being my heart surgeon wouldn't necessarily save my *** of a heart attack either...

6 games and 4 games for those 2. Redmond got 18.

You're off on Pryor. You failed to mention OSU had to void the 2010 season, return the bowl revenues, and got hit with a one year post game ban. Plus, he was facing a 5 game suspension which carried over to his NFL career.

Thats essentially 18 games, and vacated BCS Bowl win over $2,500 bucks to help his mom pay rent. I'd call that comparable to Redmond.

I didn't mean a national power. I meant a program that pushes the rules and operates in the NCAA gray areas.

OSU had direct head coach involvement in their violation. Yeah, totally comparable to a rookie WR coach who wasn't involved but knew more things than he should.

For me, it's not so much about that

As much as it's about us protecting ourselves from others. When we are excessively punishing our own players because some sleaze bag like DeVinner says something, that's a major problem.

I don't want to change compliance directors so that we can wholesale cheat our *** off.

Which is why Tressell got fired and hit with a five year show clause independent of OSUs sanctions.

My point is we could have played Redmond last year. He wasn't suspended, but we didn't want to risk the vacated wins. If we would have played him last year we'd have 12 vacated games and a 5 game suspension- same as Pryor.

Wouldn't have worked and MSU can't afford to send back bowl money. He actually broke the NCAA rules as a recruit. Devinner is a piece of crap, but a typical person in his position should know the basics about recruiting and recruiting violations. Devinner is not only a piece of crap, but he costs a player like Redmond 18 games of his college career. What a mentor. Hope the IRS ruins this guy over his nonprofit crap.

At the end of the day, Redmond took improper benefits from a season ticket holder apparently. Then he lied about it because he was not prepared for the interview. Redmond did that and he has done a great job at taking responsibility for it.

The JFF situation is different, unless they prove he knew about Uncle Nate taking the money. As long as everyone keeps their mouths shut, he will walk.

Ohio State more than likely would have played in the natty championship instead of Alabama if they did not have a one year bowl ban as well.

Yeah but without tatgate, they wouldn't have had urban Meyer as their HC either, so who knows what they would have done.
