Well it took 24 billion out of the economy and lowered projected GDP growth from 3 to 2.4 percent according to Standard and Poor financial services co. Also they brought all DCMA DoD employees back early so that defense contractors could be paid or it would have been worse. He just boxed himself in as to who will get the blame if there is another one anytime soon.I remember being told that the last shutdown was going to be disastrous for the economy.

That was quickly going to turn into a Charlie Foxtrot. There were a bunch of contracts that got put on hold dealing with personnel supporting OCONUS operations. Several defense companies had to go on risk funding to ensure the support of the Warfighter was not impacted. I'm not in favor of a Gov't shutdown because it does impact impact industry. With that said, they need to do a better job determining "non-essential" personnel. Last time, it didn't go well.
I agree. The good news is that we have a new Administration to decide who and what is essential. We need to shut down the government if we don't get funding for the things Trump ran on (e.g. the wall, border security, etc.). If this happened in a Dem administration, the media would blame the Republicans in Congress for the shut down. Now that the situation is reversed and the Dems in Congress won't vote for the budget, the media will still blame the GOP. That is why they are corrupt.
