This kid is gonna bring the swagger level of the hump to an all time high. Sidney could have raised our swagger if he wasn't a coward all the time. And I'll think he'll stay out of trouble. So what if he messed around and got caught with a few AK's, I think that's ballin, he's just trying to get his. He'll mess around and get some triple doubles.

If by some miracle Sid and Moultrie come back next year, and we sign Pollard, next year's team is gonna be nasty.
and I consider Stans to be pretty damn good at talent evaluation. Bury is really really high on this kid.

Gray does look very good though. He knows how to play fast, but he also know how to let the game come to him. Something Deville hasn't figured out how to do yet.

since it reminds me of Croom, Stansbury has been pretty damn good at finding guys like this over the years. Guys like Frazier, Varnado, and now Gray come to mind. You can really even throw the Moultrie transfer in there since it seemed to come out of nowhere. I realize that it's not like like Gray is a nobody, but he definitely seems to be a little under the radar in the recruiting circles.
As far as Pollard goes, I'd love to get him but it sure seems like the staff must be aware of a couple things that we aren't. We've got 5 commits already for next year plus the possibility of Pollard, but there are only 3 seniors. I guess the Long departure added one extra spot, but I'm still not sure where the other openings are coming from.

And I'm sure that will be the case next year. We only have 11 scholarship players right now with Long and Gardner's departure. The 11th is the the Euro, and I have heard that he will stick around throughout his suspension and play next year. We have 2 seniors on scholly-Bost and Bryant and I'm sure Moultrie is going pro, and I'm pretty sure Shaun Smith is gonna be put on a medical scholarship bc he can't get healthy. So, that's 6 spots right there. 5 early signess + Pollard= 6 freshman next year. We'll be really talented(as we usually are), but our youth is going to be scary early. I just don't think Deville, right now, is ready to be our starting point guard. He's got a long ways to go. Jalen is a great shooter, but he's just not athletic enough to play the kind of minutes he's currently playing. He's better as a 6th man IMO. Hood at the 3 is very solid, if not a star by next year, and Lewis and Sid in the post. Great front court, but little depth.

And other times, players leave because they are forced to. They then must either play at a lower level(D2) or sit out a year at another school even though they didnt choose to no longer play at MSU- Turner, Riek, Rimmer.
Those are the 2 ways to get the numbers to work. The player chooses his path or Stans forces the player to leave the program.

Pollard is ours to lose in my opinion. Stans has been on him since the 8th grade and one of our coaches is always in Kemper County. He has been to the WV and Bama games and we played good in both.
Numbers wise, Kris is staying and he will be a great addition. He puts in extra work everyday. He is very motivated. I expect Smith to get a medical RS and that will open the last spot.

Its simple- there are 2 ways a player wont make it to the end of their eligibility and i described both, then gave examples of both.
I dont see how that translates to me being irked Stans tossed someone i like.

On a tanget to this topic- i do disagree with the rules that force a player to sit out a year when they left due to their scholarship no longer existing, ie they were forced out by the coach.
An exUK player got the NCAA to waive his having to sit out a year when there was a coaching change and he found out he would no longer have a spot on the team. A player shouldnt be forced to redshirt when they werent the one that wanted to be in this position.
This especially applies to players who redshirted while at their first school...you know, players who often times arent good enough to crack the rotation at all and are then logically also the ones most likely to be forced out of the program a couple years later to make room for signees. They already listened to the coach and redshirted, and now that coach has forced them out of the program which means if they go to another D1 program, they will lose a year of eligibility...1/4 of their entire college basketball career is now also gone due to that coach's decision coupled with the NCAA's current rules.

It's simply not fair. I understand the want to prevent athletes from just jumping from school to school, but why should you punish them when a lot of times they're forced to leave for practical reasons? I just don't think they should have to sit a year just because they seek to transfer to another university.
with those that want to keep a player on scholarship after it's obvious his talent is not going to receive him significant playing time. Sorry my mistake. With Calipari bringing in 4-5 NBA freshman every year I believe it has forced Stansbury into a much more cut throat system. The signs are starting to show that Shaun Smith won't be here next year if these numbers are correct.
