Why has nobody realized that we have been running a "West Coast Offense" and that is what Crooms was recruiting for, he wanted players that would fit in into his system. So whatever Johnny Slap D!ck we hire is going to be stuck with the same mediocre players that Croom and the cronnies recruited. We have very little legitimate talent on our team.

Trying to teach some of them a new offence is going to be like teaching Dixon advanced calculus...either way nobody on planet earth not even Ditka could come to Starkville and do a quick fix.</p>

Actually, Croom wasn't running the WCO. The WCO is not smash-mouth football built upon establishing the run.

And I don't think he was recruiting for the WCO either, because he doesn't know what the WCO is. Simply, he just sucked at landing offensive players period, and he tried to run a smash-mouth football style of offense that required superior talent.

Your next coach's problem will not be offensive players that don't fit a particular system. It'll be that he has a good number of offensive players that don't fit any system at the D-1 level. Whoever you hire will have to be creative to get the offense going, and he'll have to put together a solid defense that gives him a chance to do something immediately.
